Soldiers for Conservatism Make Healthier People

You believe in limited government, a strong military, liberty and justice for all. You vote in primaries, and in the general elections. You're conservative. But what have you really done for conservatism, and what has it done for you?

I recently posted about SecularStupidest, and how the purveyors of that Conservative Sticker business are living their belief by selling products based on conservative values. That's good for them, but how many of us conservatives are really movement conservatives. In other words, the time is now, if ever there was a time, for conservatives to have conservative principles as a purpose in their lives. And if you aren't helping out, you aren't helping yourself.

The country needs it if it is to escape economic oblivion down the road. The country needs a conservative movement to be on the march the way progressivism had been for much of the 20th century. All that liberal excess needs to be cleaned up - fixed. Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid will bankrupt America this century if it isn't fixed. Politicians of all stripes have opted to ignore this redistributionist beast for too long. 

But maybe you aren't convinced that 20 years from now, or even 5 years from now matters as far as the country goes. I doubt it, but for the sake of argument, say you do. Say you believe that you are responsible for your own welfare and country be damned. Well, there's still reason for you to pick a purpose in life. Conservatism would make a good choice. But why have a purpose? It turns out, that it's healthy. According to an ABC piece, patients who maintain a greater sense of purpose in life as they age, seem to have greater protection against Alzheimer's disease.

No kidding.

So do yourself and your country a favor - make a revitalized, conservative principled America your purpose. What harm could it do?
