John McCain Lies in State

Senator John McCain lies in state at the capitol after recently succumbing to brain cancer.  He was a war hero and a patriot. For that he deserves our respect.  While I disagreed with his politics, which I considered weak, I can set that aside and offer my condolences to his family.

Q2 2018 GDP revised up to 4.2% from 4.1% - election impact?

Nope.
President Trump's tax cuts are still winning.  Remember when Obama was president and the revisions were always downward?  Ya, not now, and people feel it.

Is a midterm blue wave coming? I still don't see it.  I'm not saying that you should expect a Republican upset romp like you saw the upset of the century when president Trump trounced Hillary Clinton (unexpectedly).  But I would be less surprised by that than by a blue wave.  I'm expecting modest changes in either direction at this point.  In other words a draw.  The GOP should pick up seats in the senate, congress I'm thinking will be relatively unchanged.  So far.

What it comes down to is whether the Russia collusion garbage outweighs the good economic numbers and real-world impacts of the president's tax policy changes.  I suspect how much both of those matter to voters depends largely on voters' existing political leanings.  In other words this is a base election plus the relative importance of those two issues on independents.  My money is on the fact that enough independent voters will vote with their wallets because at the end of the day, that's what matters.  The evidence of that was the election results of 2016.

Revisionist history exposed

The media and academia can distort history whether recent or not to suit a narrative.  Most often it is a liberal narrative because they are mostly progressive liberals.  They do this to change perception and to grow support for their own agenda.  They rely on the fact that people typically do not dig deeper than what they have been presented.

Here's an example of revisionist history being exposed for what it is.

Pope Francis under fire

Pope Francis revelation has him under fire for covering up church scandal and protecting clergy who were apparently involved in scandalous behavior.

Window Wednesday - Another #WalkAway Wednesday

These stories offer great personal insights on why people are leaving the hateful Left.

This one is not exactly a #WalkAway moment, but it is a great point of view from an unexpected source.

Red flag on censorship of conservatives [UPDATED]

When an avowed Democrat is warning that Big Tech is become Big Brother by selectively censoring conservatives, you know you are seeing a red flag - censorship is the Left's newest weapon in silencing conservatives, and it's an all out assault on free speech.

UPDATE: PJ Media has a disturbing story on the same topic today.  Read it here.

Friday Musical Interlude - ROFL, liberal heads will explode

This should make some liberal heads explode, Putin set to the bee Gees Stayin' Alive.  Look liberals, conservatives are not fans of Putin, and neither is president Trump.  Your sudden fear of Russia since Trump is as transparently political as your motives on everything. So try not to let your conspiracy-theory-fueled heads explode.

Everyone else: enjoy. It's funny.

Window Wednesday - The #WalkAway stories continue

People continue to walk away from the awful Left. They don't always walk all the way to conservatism (the same distance) or do so at the same speed.  But it's good to see that the critical thinking process coming alive.  There should be no expectation that these awakenings lead to more Republican voters.  The ideal situation is a world in which people continually reevaluate their thinking - on both sides. Why it is more  satisfying when it comes from the left, is because a lot more people on the left seem intractable and dogmatic in their thinking these days.

Multiple Youtubers, hearing Van Halen for the first time. (Warning: language, in every single one.)

Lost In Vegas reaction to Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love.

Hectic reaction to Eruption:

WeeabooReacts has a reaction to the same video:

There are a number of others reacting to the same song with equal incredulity, but here's one for Unchained instead for variety.

Friday Musical Interlude - Reaction to The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia

Another musical reaction from first time listeners, Lost In Vegas, as they react to and review Reba McEntire's version of The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia (Warning: some language).

For reference, the original version was sung by Vicki Lawrence in 1973 (yes, the same one from the Carol Burnett Show).

Legalizing marijuana, a reaction.

A throwback to 2012, Steven Crowder provides some context to marijuana as a result of Colorado's legalization of the drug.

I've seen the impact on people I know, the drug is not harmless. Telling yourself that it is, is just fooling yourself.

Urgent freedom of speech implications

Whether you are a fan of Info Wars or think they are a bunch of loons, this should concern you if you care a lick about freedom of speech. Paul Joseph Watson reacts to a clearly collusion-driven, coordinated banning of Info Wars across media platforms.
