You may have missed this

Mikhail Gorbachev, last leader of the Soviet Union who has been unfairly lauded by many in the West for tearing down the Iron Curtain, has died at 91.  What the forget was that thanks to Ronald Reagan,  he was forced to do so.  Under Reagan, the United States had been reinvigorated, and the Soviet system was decaying. Gorbachev had no choice but to do what he did. What he did was not by choice but by lack of choice.  Instead of lauding him like this BBC fawning (with the possible exception of Steve Rosenberg), I'll just give him credit for not reacting like a caged tiger in the circumstances he found himself in. He did the right thing, when it was his only real option.

Truth will out

If you focus only on racism rather than truth, it's all you will ever see.

Yep. They are not hiding their intentions, you just might not be seeing it. Thankfully there's Project Veritas for that.

Elon Musk Subpoenas Twitter Whistleblower

This is still an in progress story but the latest development is highly relevant:

FBI partisanship

The laptop story of Let's Go Brandon's son could have swung the election to president Trump.  But it turns out the partisan FBI did not want that.

Let's Go bailout?

I've got a lot going on right now, most of it of the headache variety, so I hope you'll excuse the brevity of the posts today.  There are a few things worth discussing that I don't have the bandwidth to discuss, so I'm just going to share some videos on the various topics.

First up, the attempt to buy votes with a ridiculous and likely not legal student loan bailout.

Friday wasn't funny - the market crashed

The Fed made sure yesterday was not a funny Friday. It wasn't fun, in fact it was a borderline panic.

Jerome "too little, too late" Powell crashed the DJIA and the S&P by becoming agressive.  If they had started doing this 2 years ago, like many of us suggested, it might have been less of a disruptive shock.  As it is, it's a relaity check for an irrationally exuberant market.

FBI = Fully Bought In (and corrupted)

When the FBI and Justice Department have become weaponized and politicized, democracy is gone.  How much more of this do they think they can do and not face a public backlash?

Brian Stelter fired from CNN

I know, shadenfreude is not a good thing, but seeing Brian Selter fired from CNN is somehow gratifying because of how terrible a job he does.  I'm being laid off at the end of the month as jobs are offshored to Mexico, and I've always had good performance reviews. So I'm not going to be sad for a delusional George Kastanza lookalike with no sense of reality who is a propaganda mouthpiece for the far left.

Never forget

This bill is the catastrophically wrong idea at the wrong time.  Remember who agreed to it and made theis fiscally irresponsible monstrosity possible - Joe Manchin. Inflation is bad, it's not over and now they want to spend more money they don't have. It's gonna get worse, way worse. Thanks Joe Manchin.

Liz Cheney loses big time

I'm too busy to post but this is too good not to share. Not only did Liz Cheney lose, she got crushed. MSNBC shares the news:

Democrats don't understand inflation.

They just don't get it.  They don't understand inflation. They also don't understand economics, or even marketing their own terrible ideas.

0% inflation. The worst lie ever.

 Zero? No inflation?

The media is in large part playing along with this untruth.  It's horrible to watch.   Never mind that the 8.5% is probably understated to begin with, this is sickeningly worse than manipulating the data, it's lying to your face. Openly.  It's disrespectful, it's hateful and it's arrogant and morally repugnant.  But people are noticing.

Did the FBI plant evidence at Mar a Lago?

President Trump is suggesting it happened.  There's so much suspicious with this situation it seems entirely plausible.

August 9, 2022

OMG, really?

The judge who 'approved' the FBI raid on Trump's Mar a Lago home has been linked to Jeffery Epstein. Damn.

The FBI raid on president Trump, explained.

 The bogus FBI raid, explained.

The big takeaway from the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago

The big takeaway from the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago yesterday? The January 6th commission (aka witch hunt), has got absolutely nothing on president Trump. Otherwise why would the FBI be bothering to raid and try to manufacture evidence? The FBI has become irredeemably corrupt by participating in the witch hunt perpetrated by the Democratic party.

How did the president respond?  With this epic and brilliant video.

The Left may put our best memers out of business

Memology 101 and Meme The Left are going to end up out of business if the Left is this good at meme-ing themselves. This is too funny.

The Ukraine-Russia grain deal in context

There's likely a coming grain shortage and bread price spikes.  In that context, here's Peter Zeihan's take on the grain deal between Russia and the Ukraine that could possibly help the situation. Maybe?

Pelosi visited Taiwan and... nothing

Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan and accomplished nothing.  While it's good to see China's CCP lose face, it doesn't accomplish anything beyond that.  The video below posits a more meaningful outcome.  I'd like to believe it but it doesn't seem likely to be right.

China steps closer to the abyss

I keep harping on China. America has A LOT of problems right now, make no mistake. But China is in even worse shape, they just hide it better because they can (and that's not a good thing for China, or anyone else).  You don't see much about China's struggles in the news for a few reasons, chief among them China is not the U.S., U.K. or a part of Western Europe.  That doesn't mean what happens in China will remain contained in China.

We have woven a world of entangled interdependence. While in some economic ways that's arguably a good thing, it also creates dependencies and the likelihood of a cascading ripple effect everywhere else. Too much of our manufacturing has been outsourced to cheaper labor that also happens to entail lower quality goods. President Trump raised the alarm about China and tried to start the process of onshoring production (and jobs).  The elites would have none of it and it never got far enough, so the dependencies remain largely. If China collapses (which I am not saying is likely, just feasible), America and the rest of the West, are in deep trouble thanks to our neglect on dealing with the dependency (much like with Middle Eastern oil).

You think supply chain issues are a problem now? You think they are the major cause of inflation?  They aren't by the way, money printing is the issue).  Just wait until Chinese manufacturing plummets and the prices are not the issue but the empty shelves at WalMart.

All of this and no mention yet of how the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) will not go quietly.  Just like the elites in the West, they will do whatever it takes including selling out their own people to hold onto power and wealth. We'll call it an atrocity when that happens, and it will be.  But it's no different than what is being done here in the West with one major exception; we are being deceived into believing it isn't happening to us.  Because it is being done without tanks and instead our wealth is eroding towards the already uber-rich without us knowing anything other than it keeps getting harder to stay afloat.

Sunday verse

Comedy vs. cancel culture

Comedy seems to still be the battleground for fighting back against woke cancel culture. Keep in mind, if political correctness defeats comedy then it's not just that comedy becomes unfunny, it's a signpost that freedom of speech is truly gone.

Comedy is just one highly visible aspect of the war on liberty. But because it's visible, that means we have a means to fend of cancel culture.

Maybe it's the case that some elite group wants to comportmentalize us into such small groups who are destined to fight each other with legal means, with cancel culture and whatever else we can, just so we whittle away our own freedom to the point that we are powerless to stop anything. Maybe. It doesn't really matter. The reason it's happening doesn't matter at this point. What matters is that we do fight off cancel culture because not only will it eat the right and the left, it will eat everything, ending off with liberty.

Where does the green energy money come?

Earlier I posted Peter Zeihan's take on the prospects of a transition to clean energy electricity in various places.   Here's Ray Dalio on how it gets paid (spoiler, it's not good news):

The transitional electricity situation

Here's Peter Zeihan's take on the current electrical power situation in a few places.

I disagree slightly with his conclusions in only one respect but it's an important one.  The green energy proponents will not concede their failures.  Just as Let's Go Brandon won't admit the United States is in a recession because it runs counter to their chosen narrative, so too environmentalists in Germany (or elsewhere) will not concede any failures.  They can't.  And true believers will not buy any admission anyway.

Now if they don't admit there's a problem, there will be no change in policy where Green types hold power.  There will be no shift towards a realistic energy policy in those places.  Smarter policies?  Not likely.

Are minorities really abandoning the left?

Maybe. It deserves a deeper look before the midterms, but for now, this could be very telling:

The one interesting part in the polling that wasn't discussed, is that while Democrat support has fallen among Hispanic voters, the GOP support from 2020 to tday has remained flat. This looks more like disengagement that a shift.  That might not be true given it's an aggregate of polls and who knows which ones and what bias might be embedded in that. As I mentioned, more analysis needs to be done.
