The left has secretly overtly engaged in eugenics for a century So despite all the comedy of the left's meltdowns over Sydney Sweeney's American Eagle commercials, the funniest part is the ironic hypocrisy (or outright unaware stupidity, or both):

A few months ago I discovered the sharp and unique humor of Matt Rife.    He recently offended some woke people and his response to their cancel attempt was amazing. It was comedy gold to be honest.  He recently sat down with Jordan Peterson for an interview/chat that lasted well over an hour.  It's totally worth sharing here.

Comedy vs. cancel culture

Comedy seems to still be the battleground for fighting back against woke cancel culture. Keep in mind, if political correctness defeats comedy then it's not just that comedy becomes unfunny, it's a signpost that freedom of speech is truly gone.

Comedy is just one highly visible aspect of the war on liberty. But because it's visible, that means we have a means to fend of cancel culture.

Maybe it's the case that some elite group wants to comportmentalize us into such small groups who are destined to fight each other with legal means, with cancel culture and whatever else we can, just so we whittle away our own freedom to the point that we are powerless to stop anything. Maybe. It doesn't really matter. The reason it's happening doesn't matter at this point. What matters is that we do fight off cancel culture because not only will it eat the right and the left, it will eat everything, ending off with liberty.

Amy Schumer, worst comedian ever?

I don't find Amy Schumer funny.  I think her politics and personality stink.  However I don't think she's comedically terrible, just not funny.  Maybe if she stuck to honing her comedy and set aside the political elite mentality, maybe she'd become funny. Others however hold her in even lower esteem and SunnyV2 even bothers to explain why:

There are not a huge number of comedians turning the tables on the culture war overlords (i.e. the progressive left). Neel Kolhatkar is someone who does just that.

Comedians on Political Correctness (Part 1)

Back in the Cold War Era, liberals used to say that the way to defeat the totalitarianism of the Soviet Union was not to defeat them the way president Ronald Reagan did - by outdoing them in military spending, rather by exposing them to the lifestyle of the west.  By trading with them and giving the Coca Cola, blue jeans etc. they would be emotionally won over by the superiority of Western culture and socio-economic values.  Okay, it was never really tried so we don't know whether it might have worked.

But it's interesting that the left wanted this approach - engagement - in defeating the Soviet Union (maybe disingenuously perhaps), but do not espouse the same approach when it comes to ideas within Western society.  The want to police your language if you disagree.  In essence they want to police your thoughts.  Now that liberal control of the media is ubiquitous, suddenly having counter-cultural ideas are poison.  When liberal counter-culture was more of a sub-culture, it was the exact opposite: challenging their ideas was repression.  Apparently liberals are pretty much all ironically-challenged.

Comedy is an area that is being hard hit by political correctness.  Thankfully comedians are standing up to face it.  For those of us on the right, it's ironic that we seem to need to rely on comedians to fight this battle because we can't seem to do it very effectively ourselves.  Nevertheless, comedians do their verbally astute best to carry the fight against political correctness forward. Well some of them do.

Bill Maher, normally a liberal lunatic, sees it too, albeit from that perspective.  If it has gotten to Bill Maher, you know political correctness has gone way, way too far.

Franken, Perry find common ground in comedy

This common ground of levity from two very different political views; Al Franken and Rick Perry at Perry's confirmation hearing. If these two can find laughter in this particular moment, there's hope for America's political divide. Well done on both sides gentlemen.

Conservative Comedy - Part 1

Jim Norton is a stand up comedian who probably appeals more to libertarian sensibilities than pure conservatism - in fact he has some liberal views at times.  He can be also quite vulgar but he's uniquely funny in a sarcastic sort of way.  Here though in less than 1 minute, he has some red meat conservative humor that's clean, and simply adorable for those of us on the right.
