It's like watching two toddlers argue astrophysics

Not really, but this video is not as sophisticated as Doug In Exile would have you believe. Yes, there's some good things to note but it's not quite great. Watching a conversation between John Fetterman and Bill Maher is a different thing than it would have been even four years ago. Four years ago it would have been mind numbingly painful, but now it's tolerable.  Don't be mistaken; neither man is about the to jump sides and become a Republican (and probably not even an independent) because the Democrat party has gone full-tilt, off-the-map crazy.  

They are entrenched. Dave Rubin thinks Bill Maher will wake up and see the light one day, drop his Trump Derangement Syndrome and become a conservative. He truly believes Maher is on the edge of doing that. It's not gonna happen.  Maher has some common sense but he still suffers from Trump Derangement Syndrome. He still believes Democrats are the party of liberty.  He doesn't believe the radical elements represent the majority of the party.  They are a lunatic fringe in his mind.  On Megyn Kelly he outright denied that Hillary Clinton has been an election denier since 2016 - despite the video evidence otherwise. If he hasn't come around by now, he won't.  He's in too deep to realize he's buying garbage and being told it's gold.  

A lot of people, including Doug In Exile in the video below,  think Fetterman will leave the Democrats. It's not going to happen unless the Democrats end up kicking him out of the party. There's been a lot of talk about Fetterman turning more conservative since he had a stroke. There's several data points showing that to be true. But I don't think he's likely to "leave the plantation", he's more likely to stick it out and try to win from the inside of the democrat tent.  The strategy is doomed to fail, but I'm not opposed to him trying. As is mentioned by Doug In Exile in the video below, the more infighting among Democrats, the better. Democrat disunity and division is definitely a winning formula for conservatives. The longer it goes on, the better.

The whole video is a good watch. At 3:47, Doug In Exile starts making some fantastic points about the left.  They wrap themselves in terms that in action, they actually oppose.

DeSantis or Trump in 2024?

My position on the 2024 presidential election has always been that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis should cede the nomination to Trump, but now that's wavering.  My rationale has been that if Trump wins then we could follow that with 2 consecutive DeSantis presidential terms, giving America 12 consecutive years of Republican rule.  Think of what could be accomplished!  But now I wonder if a Trump 2024 victory is a sure thing.  I thought 2020 would be but some how Let's Go Brandon got 81 million votes. I won't rehash how that was even possible here; the net effect was it happened.

DeSantis I think could demolish any opponent. But right now it's still early, I'm reserving judgement and opinion on who the better candidate for 2024 might be.  If it ends up being DeSantis, we still owe president Trump a debt of gratitude for moving the ball down the field in the right direction. He woke up the conservative voters and some of the Republican party.  He made Americans aware of the fact that America first is not a bad thing.  He showed everyone that the status quo is not immutable. That's huge.

 It's not often I can think of myself commiserating with Bill Maher, but he's right on COVID theft:

Probably not, but at least he's coming around a little.  That doesn't excuse the bashing he has done in the past, but one more awakened person instead of woke person is still good.

Taking a run at Bill Maher. Yes, now.

It's been a long time since I've bothered to comment on Bill Maher.  Recently he came to the conclusion that a Civil War II is not far off if people continue to hate each other and it would be a good idea to tone things down.  What better time than now to criticize for me to him?

For context, here's his recent soliloquy on the topic of getting along, fraught with problems as it is:

It's insulting, it's demeaning all the while it's trying to recommend that we all just get along. What he means by it, when he says "Let it go." is that liberals are going to have to learn to let go of their attempted owning of conservatives. Alright, his audience is mostly rabidly liberal, so I guess I get the slant. But what he says still raises two issues. (1) Why now? (2) He's still not practicing what he preaches.

Why now? I think that's obvious. While Bush 43 was president, while McCain and Romney and even further back Bob Dole and even Bush Sr. were running for president or were president, there was no push back on the vile vitriol from the left directed towards conservatives. Conservatives have been the whipping boy of the left for decades. We've longed for Ronald Reagan 2.0 since he left office because he was almost magical in his ability to rise above the attacks, and at the same time be eloquent and presidential. But even he was attacked as a dumb guy by the left. So that void of push back finally got filled. We wanted Reagan 2.0 but we got president Trump.

And you know what, most of us on the right are pretty happy with how it's turned out. No he doesn't exude the presidential aura of Reagan. He doesn't possess the same eloquence or the same likability. But he does possess other qualities. He exudes confidence. He's a fighter. He does not back down. He believes in America. He pushes back. And he's unapologetic.  We'll forgive him his coarseness and bull in a China shop approach to draining the swamp.  Hell, we even want the latter because it's about the only way it's going to get done.

In addition to all of that , his backbone has slowly begun to infuse conservatives of all stripes to push back too. Outside of a few notable exceptions like Rush Limbaugh, push back is something abused conservatives have not done loudly or strongly enough, if at all, for decades. The silent majority has been so silent, we are barely a majority now. So now that we are fighting back, just like a bully, suddenly Bill Maher is saying, to paraphrase, 'hey let's all tone it down here'. 

No. You've owned the bully pulpit for so long, we are not about to step back from speaking our minds now that we are not afraid to do so. Remember this is the same Bill Maher who is saying George Bush wasn't so bad, but also said back in 2006 was saying Bush should be impeached.

Guess what Bill, we are not afraid of you any more.  

And when you continue to dump all over half the country WHILE you are telling liberals to tone it down to avoid a civil war, you are being a hypocrite Bill Maher, a hypocrite with a capital F. Why should we back down when you continue to berate us?  And why would liberals tone it down at your behest just because you say so, and call us scum at the same time?  You are motivating them to continue too.  We don't buy it Bill.

Bill Maher tells his audience that the intractable stubbornness of conservatives is not because they are ignorant but that it comes from hate.  Hold a mirror up to your side Bill - everyone from ANTIFA to yourself are consumed by hate.  And it's a hate of people.  What conservatives are filled with is a desire for a more free society, a more Constitutional Union, economic prosperity.  

And all of that comes from an intellectual understanding of history, economics and law (among other things).  It does not come from our feelings.  Let me also add science to that mix.  Anti-intellectualism on the left on climate science is rife with "the science is settle", "the debate is over".  No. it's really not.  If that's your argument and it's not backed by factual evidence, which conservatives can produce, then it's become a religion based on faith and nothing more.  Scientific debate is healthy.  Stop demonizing us for stupidity when we have come prepared to debate you, minus the slander and feelings-based arguments.  Maybe it's just another part of the reason you are afraid of a civil war.  It's convenient for you to ignore the intellectual right, just as it is to ignore the thuggish "knuckle-dragging" parts of the left.

And stop being disingenuous  by saying that you were never afraid of Bush locking up reporters, implying that president Trump will.  That's beyond stupid.  It has not happened for 3 years despite the fact that liberals have wanted president Trump impeached, jailed or even executed.  That's hypocrisy.

Stop imbuing Bush with nobility for wishing that Obama succeeded when liberals have wanted Trump out since the day he was elected and have been working on it since election night.  That too is hypocrisy.

America needs a civil war - of ideas.  It's been a war that only your side has been fighting and we've had enough.  If you want to back down now, fine, roll back all of your past mistakes, otherwise accept that we are not done pushing back.  We are however done with your derision, your lecturing, your more-virtuous-than-thou signalling to fellow liberals and conservatives alike.  You were right about one thing - we are not going away.  We are pushing back because we have been abused by liberals for too long to keep quite about and our beliefs now. We welcome you to debate us; a democracy thrives on debate and ideas.  

Comedians on Political Correctness (Part 1)

Back in the Cold War Era, liberals used to say that the way to defeat the totalitarianism of the Soviet Union was not to defeat them the way president Ronald Reagan did - by outdoing them in military spending, rather by exposing them to the lifestyle of the west.  By trading with them and giving the Coca Cola, blue jeans etc. they would be emotionally won over by the superiority of Western culture and socio-economic values.  Okay, it was never really tried so we don't know whether it might have worked.

But it's interesting that the left wanted this approach - engagement - in defeating the Soviet Union (maybe disingenuously perhaps), but do not espouse the same approach when it comes to ideas within Western society.  The want to police your language if you disagree.  In essence they want to police your thoughts.  Now that liberal control of the media is ubiquitous, suddenly having counter-cultural ideas are poison.  When liberal counter-culture was more of a sub-culture, it was the exact opposite: challenging their ideas was repression.  Apparently liberals are pretty much all ironically-challenged.

Comedy is an area that is being hard hit by political correctness.  Thankfully comedians are standing up to face it.  For those of us on the right, it's ironic that we seem to need to rely on comedians to fight this battle because we can't seem to do it very effectively ourselves.  Nevertheless, comedians do their verbally astute best to carry the fight against political correctness forward. Well some of them do.

Bill Maher, normally a liberal lunatic, sees it too, albeit from that perspective.  If it has gotten to Bill Maher, you know political correctness has gone way, way too far.

Wednesday Warren Warning - Torched by Levin on Israel

Not everything progressive darling Elizabeth Warren goes unchallenged.  Via The Right Scoop, Mark Levin challenged her on her statements on Israel. Go take a listen.  As The Right Scoop points out, it's short and it's fantastic.

Meanwhile Bill Maher who somehow fashions himself as a Libertarian rather than just an obnoxious know-it-all snot, wants Warren to run against Hillary Clinton.  News flash for Maher - anyone who thinks Warren should run is a progressive, not a Libertarian.

Why I agree with Bill Maher

When blowhards suck.

I never thought I'd see the day I could look at Bill Maher and say "yeah, he got that one right". He called the 9/11 terrorists brave. That's just one of his many outrageous statements. But this time he has happened to reach the right conclusion, albeit by an unlikely path.

Bill Maher is calling on America to stop the phony outrage. Now, it didn't bother him when he was using truly foul language to tar Sarah Palin. He has claimed edgy is his thing, unlike Limbaugh.

But once the left's Alinsky tactics were turned on him byt the right, suddenly it became every man for himself. He couldn't say the right should stop it's phony outrage but it's okay for the left to do so. So Maher threw his lefty pals en masse under the bus to protect his own skin.

Everyone should stop the phony outrage he says. So he can continue to be edgy without consequence. The price - people will have to let people say unpleasant things. That's the price of the valuable First Amendment. I agree.

The Maher conclusion only came after he couldn't have it both ways any longer. So be it and kudos to the right for using a smart tactic - isolate and demonize Maher - to achieve this end.

But let's face it Maher has left himself an out. He said only phony outrage should stop. Who decides what is phony? I suspect Maher will have his own barometer as to what qualifies. In other words, wait a few months and it will be liberal business as usual.

THIS is our guy?

Mitt Romney gets another key endorsement, proving once again he's er, on the side of the poor?  Really GOP - this is who we want to go with?  This is the guy who will stand up to Obama and the media's withering attacks on his flip flopping and more importantly his disconnect with the common man?

Restore Our Future, a super PAC supporting Mitt Romney, got a boost in February from an industry that is currently under fire by the Obama administration: payday lenders.

At least seven payday lending companies threw their support - and a cumulative $227,500 - toward Mitt Romney's super PAC in February, according to the PAC's latest FEC filings. Meanwhile, the federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is increasingly targeting those companies, which offer small, short-term loans secured against a customer's next pay-check, often with high interest rates, in its oversight of financial institutions.

Restore Our Future declined to comment to CBS News on whether or not they had made any overtures to the payday lending industry.

If I were a comedian who thought I knew everything about politics and tried to come across as an expert on that subject, of course I'd be a liberal.  Why?  Because no matter what line I crossed, those I supported would REFUSE to condemn me for my line crossing behavior, and we could all go along happily living our hypocritical lives.

That explains Bill Maher:

Unbelievable bald-faced hypocrisy.  And I've now spent more time on Bill Maher than I ever intended to spend.

As for Rush, what he said, he apologized for it, and his insulting words while vulgar,  were related to the point he was tring to make.  Maher's invectives were designed to be hurtful and related only to liberal rage.  Rush was complaining about a law student demanding her birth control be paid for, Maher just hated Sarah Palin and wanted to spew bile at her - it was not related to her ideas.  It was not even an attack on her ideas.  It was misogynistic hatred and nothing more.  But liberals won't  disavow him because he sent them money. [Warning - foul language]

That is truly sickening.
