Meanwhile in America, Trump is still winning.

Had to share this - not because of the election flashback but because of the flashback to the prediction of a dire economy after Trump's election.  It was so far off, it was 180 degrees wrong.

Proud to be Canadian at this moment (not).

Our Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is a buffoon.  Luckily for Canada, this guy is not long for the office - he will likely be a one-term leader.  Polls for our election this fall, have him trailing the conservative leader Andrew Scheer, the heir to former conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper, by a significant margin.

Saturday Learning Series - Defending Capitalism (Part 6b - the Hitler sidebar)

Continuing our sidebar on Nazism being socialism and expounding on the fallout that remains to this day of the lie that Nazism is a right wing ideology.  As a sidebar to the sidebar, it dovetails precisely with Democrats trying to (and succeeding) convince African Americans of the lie that the Republicans are the party of slavery and racism.  The left lies and it lies often enough to make the lie seem like it is the truth.  The purpose of this series is to share the truth, and the truth is that Nazis were socialists.

Why Nazism Was Socialism and Why Socialism is Totalitarian

Jordan Peterson explains the pathology and dangers of national socialism (Nazism):

Nazism is socialism, and socialism is evil. But don't you dare confront them or you will be met with righteous indignation despite the truth:

Clearly the truth hurts their feelings and the EU parliament is supposed to be a safe space for socialists. Isn't it?  Kamall should not have apologized, he was right.

Heritage Foundation is blinkered on tariffs

The Heritage Foundation argues that tariffs are taxes and they hurt consumers.  That's true, but simply abandoning the national interest is akin to open borders.  When you allow products into your country untaxed but you cannot sell abroad under the same condition, you are hamstringing yourself economically versus your opponent.

The Fox host points this out and the Heritage Foundation response: using the threat of tariffs causes uncertainty.  While I agree with the Heritage Foundation on a lot of things, that frankly is a weak non-answer, and worse, blind to reality.

The threat of tariffs is a bargaining chip and allowing other countries to take advantage of a consumers-at-all-costs approach is blindness.  There are producers in America that are not being treated fairly, drug use is a national epidemic, unfettered access to immigration is a problem.  This one-side-only approach to tariffs has not worked properly because when only one side plays with fairness, they lose.

A brief sidebar in our defense of capitalism, to point out to the socialist Utopians who need to be educated, that Hitler was a socialist and that fascism is rooted in socialism.

Jordan Peterson on gambling

I'm off to Vegas for a week today (for the first time ever) though I will continue posting.  However, I thought in the spirit of irony I thought I'd share a video.  One of my intellectual heroes, Jordan Peterson ripping on gambling, although specifically government run gambling.

Here he's talking about government run gambling in Canada.

In my defense, I will not come back broke.

CPAC 2019 - Jikido "Jay" Aeba

Hollywood vs The Old West

Via Ammo, a site I am hoping to delve into a little more in the future, comes a critical essay on how Hollywood has portrayed the Old West to aid in their gun control agenda:
Hollywood has a clever way of distorting our perspective on history, and a great example of this is Western film – a movie genre we've all come to love. Cattle rustlers, guns blazing, outlaws running loose, and vigilantes dishing out vengeance indiscriminately. These scenes have become more synonymous with the American Frontier than Winchester and their "Cartridge That Won the West." But these fictional tales have produced more than entertainment for over a century; they've also contributed to an ongoing, subtle push for gun control, all while making Hollywood millions.

Revisionist history books tell us that the “Wild West” was an anarchic period of time that was not conducive to human prosperity. Images of a Hobbesian nightmare – a life that is brutish and short – are ingrained in our consciousness thanks to decades of public schooling and violent images on the silver screen which are light on actual history and heavy on creative license.
It's a terrific read, follow the link above to read the whole piece. It's information worth knowing and understanding.

Saturday Learning Series - Defending Capitalism (Part 5)

A lot of arguments have already been shared about why capitalism is not only good, it is the greatest good and provides the greatest good to the greatest number of people.  But that does not do much to contrast against other systems.  Let's take a look.

Ayn Rand offered a comparison to communism.

But let's face it, the craving of the public today is for socialism not communism.  They are essentially the same thing but for the sake of discussion, let's look at a broader comparison as propounded by Ludwig von Mises, explained in this Patrik Schumacher lecture.

Important: Your taxes are down, not up

Your tax return may be smaller, but that's a small part of the big picture.  Tim Pool explains this well, your tax return is down because your taxes are lower.

Progressives have successfully peddled lies about the truth.

The Left will eat itself, so says Obama (via Timcast)

Tim Pool (aka Timcast) recently posted a video about the Left's circular firing squad of ideological purity.  It's a 14 minute video worth watching despite a couple of issues.  What issues?  Two immediately come to attention.

1. He let's Obama off easy - Obama famed on the right for telling us "You gotta sit in the back seat", was actually part of the group he's now warning about.  I'm willing to give Obama a pass because he's yesteryear's news now. I frankly don't care much about what he has to say.  He may be correct here, and he may have been given a pass, but he was complicit in the progressive puritanical purging when he mattered.

2. Tim Pool shortchanges conservatives by relegating their offering to 'beer' (aka being nicer).  He downplays the legitimate and very sound arguments that conservatives have on issues, by simply ignoring them. He does not talk about what the right offers other than that it's a salve to many many Americans. Well, if that's what it is, why is it so?  Maybe because it's grounded in common sense  things and it actually does work. I get it, he's a liberal and he is coming at it from a liberal viewpoint.  What he is perhaps failing to recognize that conservatism, is actually classical liberalism.  I'll give Tim a pass too - he's young and has not been exposed to a lot of conservative thinking.  Additionally he's done a lot of good for conservatives by standing on classical liberal principles that are at the core of modern conservatism.  To be honest, I don't care what a person calls themselves if they are are approaching things soundly and with common sense.

All that aside, here's what Tim has to say about Obama's recent foray into the left eating itself.

Saturday Learning Series - Defending Capitalism (Part 4)

Unfortunately we have to go short again this weekend on our ongoing defense of capitalism. Yaron Brook offers a lengthy lecture on Ayn Rand's moral defense of capitalism.

Timcast calls them out

I don't think I've shared many of Timcast's posts in the past. They're good but they come from a libertarian left viewpoint.  That said, he's an honest leftist and understands where the liberal left media have been dishonest and he calls them out for it.

For that he deserves our respect on the right. Sadly, his approach to things seems to be a minority position despite the common sense and common purpose nature of his arguments and points.

Here from this week, he takes certain members of the mainstream media to task for their deliberate blindness on the Russian collusion issue.

Border crisis

Democrats are either putting their heads in the sand on the border crisis or are being deliberately duplicitous because they really do want rampant illegal immigration because it serves their purpose.
