Democrat priorities laid bare

This lays bare how Democrats think.  Veterans have been cast aside in favor of illegal immigrants.  How this could possibly sit with the American public, any of it, is beyond me.  This is a glaring example of where Democrat priorities lie - not in what's right, but in what's right for them in vote buying. Disgraceful.
A final effort by Senate Republicans to halt cuts to pensions of military retirees failed late Tuesday, after Democrats blocked an amendment to the controversial budget bill.

The two-year budget agreement, which cleared a key test vote earlier in the day, was expected to get a final vote no later than Wednesday.

Ahead of the final vote, Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., tried unsuccessfully to use a parliamentary tactic to force a vote on the amendment, which he wrote to undo the cuts for military retirees.

A provision in the already House-passed bill would cut retirement benefits for military retirees by $6 billion over 10 years.

Sessions wanted to instead eliminate an estimated $4.2 billion in annual spending by reining in an IRS credit that illegal immigrants have claimed.

He and fellow senators argued the bill unfairly sticks veterans and other military retirees with the cost of new spending.
Spending cuts have to happen, and they have to come from somewhere. But come on, does this seem right to anyone?

Happy Veterans Day

Happy Veterans Day.

A personal thank you to all those who have served - American or Canadian (Remembrance Day) - in the past, or are currently serving our nations in a time of war.  Additional thanks to those who have stood vigilant in times of peace, ready to answer the call, should it have become necessary.  And finally, a special prayer for those who were victims at Fort Hood.  May they also be remembered as having fallen in service of their country.

Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day. More, importantly have a solemn, and reflective Memorial Day and remember what your veterans and currently serving military personal have done for you and your freedoms, indeed also the freedoms of others around the world. Remember their sacrifices and use the freedoms you have been given, wisely.

Enjoy your holiday. Barbecue, go to the movies, whatever it is that you personally enjoy on your holiday. But don't forget to honor the brave men and women who have sacrificed so that you may do so. Memorial Day is not something that replaces that sacrifice on a daily basis, and it should not be the only day that remembrance should occur.

You are not a Christian only on Christmas. You are not Jewish only on Hanukkah. Similarly you are not an American, you are not someone who enjoys life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness only on Memorial Day.

To all of the military the men and women of America (and my native Canada as well), Thank you.

Those two words are not sufficient, but any more would simply clutter the message.

So, I'll just say it again, but louder.

THANK YOU.
