Canadians starting to get conservatism.

Canadians are becoming more comfortable with the conservative party of Canada.  It's taken a couple of elections and successive minority conservative governments in parliament, but this could be the time for a breakthrough.  After the liberal, socialist and separatist parties all voted a motion of non-confidence in the governing conservative parties, polling indicates Canadians might be ready for a majority conservative government, free of the fetters of having to deal with other parties to remain in power.

With a month to go, here's a visual of the latest polling numbers.  At 42%, with 5 parties in the country, the conservatives are flirting with majority government territory.

UPDATE:  I got mentioned by Ed at Hot Air in his post on the Canadian election.  Thanks Ed!  Now, I'd like to get back to American politics.

  4. Thanks Christopher! Truly appreciate the comments.

I'm not sure the polling will increase for conservatives - they tend to tighten as elections draw nearer (and not just in Canada). That said, if these numbers hold we will be finally looking at a majority government in Canada (at least it is a reasonable probability). I'd be love to see it increase but happy to see it hold. But your prayers are also welcome.

P.S. Hope you weren't too livid about the cult discussion we had.

  7. Dirksilver. Thanks for the compliment.

Prairie dog's suggestion might work for you. There's also Small Dead Animals (http://www.smalldeadanimals.com/), which focuses on both Canadian and American politics and is quite good.

Typically not here though. I focus mostly on the U.S. with some occasional focus on Canada, Israel, and Great Britain. That's because I'm an American trapped in a Canadian's body.
