I think we're starting to see the development of a possible new trend that might be an outgrowth of Alinsky tactics. Alinsky's first rule for radicals is as follows; "Power is not only what you have, but what an opponent thinks you have. If your organization is small, hide your numbers in the dark and raise a din that will make everyone think you have many more people than you do." That's happening more frequently today.
With Tea Party demonstrations, pro-Arizona immigration demonstrations and today's Restoring Honor rally. Also on today - Reclaiming The Dream. The liberal tactic is as simple as it is defensive - counter-act every demonstration in favor of conservative or common sense values with a demonstration of your own, at the same time, at nearly the same place on the same day. All they need to do is hope that a compliant press will either give them better (or more impressive) coverage to make them seem more powerful and important and/or denigrate the other side's rally.
