Clearly New York Mayor Eric Adams has upset the Democrat elites, the FBI has taken his phone and iPad. He's not onboard with Let's Go Brandon's open border policy, but is there anything else going on that we don't know about?

Toronto, ugh.

There are times I hold out hope for Canada regaining some common sense. This was not one of them; Toronto elected a socialist mayor this week, Olivia Chow.   In a field of over 100 candidates, she garnered roughly 37% of the vote. This comes on the heels of a squishy conservative mayor, who resigned after being caught having an affair with a staff member. There is a total of 0% good news in this story.

Democrats' canary in the coal mine

You want to know what Joe Biden's response is going to be when he is finally forced to take a position on whether he thinks the police should be defunded?  Well it won't be the same answer as the Minneapolis mayor who was asked the same question by protestors. 

He was clearly the canary in the coal mine for Democrats - or the trial balloon in a different metaphor. Biden cannot give the same answer and expect to get the Black Lives Matter, far left vote. But he cannot capitulate and get the suburban Democrat vote, at least in the same turnout level. So what is he going to do? He's going to try to craft some sort of middle of the road answer between the insanity of having no police and supporting law and order. Perhaps something along the lines of needing to review federal funding for states for police forces to meet some sort of threshold level of anti-racism in order to continue to receive funding. In other words, states will have to earn continued funding. Yes, that's an absurd stance but perhaps enough to stave off enough vote loss. Never mind that police funding is local and state funding of cities and federal funding of states is so peripherally linked to the actual question - radicals don't care.

As the left continues to eat itself, it's not all good news for president Trump.  If the media manages to avoid pinning down Joe Biden, the president should call him out during his own press engagement.  Then they will have to ask Joe.  It's no loss for the president - we all know where he stands on law and order.

Weiner explodes over sexting questions

Anthony Weiner, running for mayor in New York, got into a shouting match at a stump speech in an exchange over his sexting scandal.  The entire exchange is interesting and if you are an outsider to this election (not a New York Democrat), humorous.

I recommend you reads the whole thing, but here's an excerpt;

Mr. Weiner interrupted, shouting over Mr. Strauss. “I’m gonna tell you something! Here’s what I recommend you do, if that’s your question, that’s your concern, here’s what I recommend you do: I recommend you say to them, ‘You know what? We have a lot of voices in the Democratic Party,’” he said, arguing that all ideas should be considered, no matter where they come from. “Ideas matter!”

He went on to say that, regardless, he was going to win.

“I’m going to win this election, OK, and I’m gonna govern this city really well,” he declared. “If you don’t think I should even be standing here today, I certainly would respect that. I mean, you’re supporting another candidate who’s not gonna win.”

Talking to reporters after his appearance, Mr. Weiner was still on fire.

I just couldn't resist posting this. The opportunities for locker room humor and a bit of schadenfreude are too numerous to ignore.

Chick-fil-A Canada? Come On Chick-fil-Eh!

Being Canadian, and traveling to the United States far less frequently than I'd like, I miss out on a lot of cool things American.  We get access to American television (so we no longer say a-boot instead of about.  By the way most Canadians never did say a-boot).  We have access to American clothes, styles, music, and food.  But there are exceptions that bother me - typically they relate to fast food.  For example, I've never been to a Hardee's and they have some seemingly amazing menu items.   We finally got Krispy Kreme donuts about a year before the company had financial problems and now we can only get them less than fresh at Wal Mart.  Oh, yay.

Take a hint America!

Well, at least liberal America.  The city of Toronto Canada, a very liberal city, has elected a conservative mayor tonight.  In particular, coming off of a socialist mayor, they've elected a fiscally conservative mayor.  And he won handily, despite polls calling the race getting very tight in the last week.

TORONTO (Reuters) - Toronto voters on Monday elected conservative Rob Ford as mayor of Canada's biggest city, tilting away from their recent liberal leanings and opting for his platform of small government, fewer taxes and big spending cuts.

Ford, a suburban city councilor and businessman, defeated George Smitherman, a former Liberal Party deputy premier of Toronto's province of Ontario. Ford was victorious on a platform that promised to "stop the gravy train at City Hall."

Ford drew 47 percent of the vote, compared to Smitherman's 35 percent, with no other candidate getting more than 12 percent, according to official vote tallies.

"People just kept telling me ... you're the only one that I trust that can get this City Hall spending under control," Ford, who was supported by provincial and federal Conservative Party figures, said on local television following his victory.

If Toronto Canada is doing that, if Britain is trending conservative and France and Germany are inching in that direction, what dynamic is left for the left? I'm not getting overconfident, but I'm feeling a wave election for Congress this midterm.

Yet more scandal?

Baltimore mayor, Democrat Sheila Dixon has been indicted for 12 counts of felony theft, perjury, fraud and misconduct in office. The hits just keep on coming. It's become tough to keep up with events over the last two months. It's as if the Democrats are deliberately trying to get all their scandal, all their graft out of the way before Obama takes office.

At this point I'm speechless - the Democrats keep giving conservatives something to talk about but there is so much fodder it's almost impossible to do it all justice. At this rate we should consider just starting a chronology of headlines and before the election just flash a scandal count on the TV adds with the words Hope and Change behind the total. I half suspect the Democrats to suddenly shout out in unison "April Fool's!"

The biggest irony in it all is that a big percentage of those who voted for hope and change probably aren't paying attention. Sure, they'll tune in on Inauguration Day and that will be it for 4 years. In a Democracy you get the government you deserve. Those who didn't turn out for McCain because he was squishy might be enjoying the show, but the problem is that as a single nation, everybody suffers the fallout from the election of these self-serving, hand-in-the-cookie-jar yet holier-than-thou Democrats. Let's hope the damage can be contained.
