Democrats' canary in the coal mine

You want to know what Joe Biden's response is going to be when he is finally forced to take a position on whether he thinks the police should be defunded?  Well it won't be the same answer as the Minneapolis mayor who was asked the same question by protestors. 

He was clearly the canary in the coal mine for Democrats - or the trial balloon in a different metaphor. Biden cannot give the same answer and expect to get the Black Lives Matter, far left vote. But he cannot capitulate and get the suburban Democrat vote, at least in the same turnout level. So what is he going to do? He's going to try to craft some sort of middle of the road answer between the insanity of having no police and supporting law and order. Perhaps something along the lines of needing to review federal funding for states for police forces to meet some sort of threshold level of anti-racism in order to continue to receive funding. In other words, states will have to earn continued funding. Yes, that's an absurd stance but perhaps enough to stave off enough vote loss. Never mind that police funding is local and state funding of cities and federal funding of states is so peripherally linked to the actual question - radicals don't care.

As the left continues to eat itself, it's not all good news for president Trump.  If the media manages to avoid pinning down Joe Biden, the president should call him out during his own press engagement.  Then they will have to ask Joe.  It's no loss for the president - we all know where he stands on law and order.

Whether it's because of advertizing revenue or a political agenda, or both, or more, Google is not neutral.  There are alternatives.

IBD: Democrats are the ones out of touch.

Last Tuesday there was an eye-opening article from Investors Business Daily (IBD) that showed how out of touch and blindly loyal Democrats are to the cause and to the current president.  Notice in the charts below how the independents are far closer to Republicans on the various measures and it is the Democrats who are skewed away from the norm.

We keep hearing about how the Republican Party is full of radical Tea Party crazies. But our latest IBD/TIPP Poll shows that it's Democrats who are out of touch with reality and well outside the mainstream.

The public overwhelmingly believes the country is headed in the wrong direction, that current economic policies aren't working, that President Obama is doing a bad job, that government should be smaller and that ObamaCare should be repealed. But not Democrats.

On issue after issue, in fact, Democrats are the outliers by wide margins, according to an analysis of the December IBD/TIPP survey. 

They are, by and large, Pollyanna-ish about the economy, they can see no evil when it comes to Obama or ObamaCare, and they are extremists when it comes to the size and role of the federal government.

Well, there is that.

Q: Does this damage Obama?

Apparently the president's team kept this hidden in 2008 during his election run.  Now they don't care.  Why not?  Is it somehow less damaging than before?

First some context via Sean Hannity on Fox, interviewing the Brietbart team who brought this to light.  Who was this guy Obama was endorsing - what did he stand for and why do they think it might matter:

Is this enough to damage Obama in 2012. Not alone. Ogletree thinks it won't matter now. But Breitbart's comment at CPAC last month was that they had videos, plural. This is merely a tease, as is the Breitbart style with these damaging videos. The method is to release them in drips and allow the defenders time to corner themselves in defense of themselves. Remember the ACORN scandal? I don't see that happening this time. Again, not yet. But it does give people time to investigate Bell whom Obama had clearly embraced. And who knows what else Big Government has to unveil?

But does it matter to voters? In the face of high unemployment and record deficits and the previous radical associations by the president, to those who don't like the president this may just be an "I told you so" moment. But for those who support Obamacare, and green energy it may be a "so what?" Until this gets some legs it won't turn any tide of opinion. It doesn't yet have legs.

How does it start to get legs? People need to ask who this professor Bell was. Did he really believe in an American society of permanent racism?  He said he did.

Civil Discourse for Thee, But Not for Me.

And some Democrat double take to go with the Obama double take.  Let's see...Bush = Hitler,  Christie = Gaddafi ,  Walker  = Mubarak,  Conservatives can STFU and violence is okay if it supports Hamas (or the SEIU).  But conservatives are the crazed radicals? Conservatives are the ones not using civil discourse? Civil discourse for thee but not for me indeed.

We all know Democrats are full of double standards and hypocrisy.  But while they get away with it less and less, it doesn't stop them from trying.
