BOULDER, Colorado, June 1 (Reuters) - Eight people were injured on Sunday when a 45-year-old man yelled "Free Palestine" and threw incendiary devices into a crowd in Boulder, Colorado where a demonstration to remember the Israeli hostages who remain in Gaza was taking place, authorities said.
Four women and four men between 52 and 88 years old were transported to hospitals, Boulder police said. Authorities had earlier put the count of the injured at six and said at least one of them was in a critical condition.
The Supreme Court ruled 9-0, yes even the 3 ultra-liberal justices sided with Trump, that Colorado could not remove president Trump from the 2024 ballots. Liberal heads have been exploding everywhere, but the truth is, the Constitution won and the wackos lost. Here's one particular coping attempt that looks like it's not going well:
President Trump is back on the ballot. I knew this would happen, but I'm not sure if it was the Michigan decision not to remove him, the fact that it would go to the Supreme Court and they would lose and look like idiots, or just that the left has finally realized that they are helping Trump, not hurting him, with all the lawfare.
Two quotes stood out to me today as synopses of the Colorado court's ill advised decision to remove president Trump from the 2024 ballot.
Victor Davis Hanson on the lie behind it, and the blindly partisan absurdity of the ruling itself:
An “insurrectionist” president does not address unarmed protestors with qualifiers like, “I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.”
How also can one be guilty of insurrection without ever being indicted for such a supposed crime, much less convicted of it?
Tim Donner on the inevitable outcome of it that will once again slap the Democrat party in the face:
This time, four left-wing Colorado justices attempting to kneecap Trump were not even going to wait on due process – the very foundation of law – to effectively declare Trump guilty of insurrection, a crime for which he has not, repeat not, even been charged. After believing their attempts to wipe Trump off the ballot would be a knockout punch, it is the left that is about to get walloped to the canvas with a right hook.
...Leftists constantly indicting Trump have actually gotten the reaction they envisioned: forcing the GOP to support Trump. The idea was that Biden would then sail to another term against a convicted criminal sure to repel the American electorate in the end. The strategy has turned into the most classic backfire we have witnessed in some time.

Vivek Ramaswamy being a standup guy, doing the right thing in response to the absurd Colorado court ruling regarding president Trump's ballot eligibility. Any GOP candidate who does not, has put their own political career ahead of what's right. We will notice it.

Colorado has ruled that Donald Trump cannot be on the ballot in Colorado for the Republican primaries or seemingly for the general election for 2024. If you noticed how the legal cases against president Trump made him more popular, just watch what this does for him. His popularity will rise even more. This clearly marks a dark authoritarian turn by the Democrats. If it happened in some Central American country we would be up in arms about that nation being in a dictatorship. But it's happening in America. People, especially independent voters, will notice this.
Democrats seem to believe that president Trump's support comes from some sort of cult-of-personality-based underpinning. It's not. His 2016 support was based on Make America Great Again which ran the gamut of border security, economic strength and America First principles among other similar notions. While that was true, it's no longer the case. With each phony impeachment, each indictment, each attempt to deny him the chance to run again (like this latest legal attempt by Colorado), his popularity is growing not because of his core supporters, it's because people see the attempt to railroad an outsider and they don't like it. They see the establishment going after a high profile outsider and think, if they can do that to him, they can do that to anyone, including me.
This is also voter disenfranchisement of the highest order. If Donald Trump is your candidate, you've been told your vote does not count in Colorado. Democrats have complained about voter disenfranchisement seemingly forever. But it's lip service; they just want to win elections by making it easier for them to harvest ballots without scrutiny. It's obvious. Only conservatives have noticed to date. But here they are doing exactly what they claim to be against. Why? Because it was never about voter disenfranchisement, it's always been about control; controlling the narrative or in this case controlling the outcome of elections.
Nobody wants that level of control over their lives. Sure, many Democrats want that level of control over other people's lives, but not their own. Hardcore Democrat supporters want conformity to their own ideas. "Think like me." The establishment is similar but it's more like, "think like we tell you." But those two groups represent a small minority of Americans, thank God. And an additional blessing, they seem blind to consequences of their actions. There will be unintended consequences.
Firstly let me say that due to the short timeline, this will immediately be raised to the Supreme Court, and it will be immediately be overturned. The 14th Amendment being used to kick president Trump off the ballot, is a federal matter. Colorado does not get to decide this. Furthermore, the president is not included in the wording of the amendment, only specific officers. There is no way this gets upheld at SCOTUS.
Maybe the unintended consequences that will hit Democrats are not so unintended. Their end game could be something other than keeping Trump off the ballot. It could be for example, an attempt to discredit the Supreme Court after they decide in Trump's favor, so that they can once again meddle with the governance and makeup of the Supreme Court. Because the Supreme Court will side with Trump; he will be on the ballot in Colorado in 2024.
Or, in an even more sinister take, maybe it's a backdoor way to get Let's Go Brandon off the Democrat ticket. He's trailing president Trump in most polls, most importantly in a lot of swing state polls. If this further exacerbates the gap between Trump and Let's Go Brandon for Democrats, it provides them more fodder to demand he step aside. "Oh, look at this shiny new candidate (Gavin Newsom, or Michelle Obama) we have for you. Surely they are a better option than Trump would be, right?
I would not put either scenario, or both past Democrats. They are insidious. They are evil. They represent decay and disorder, and they must be stopped at the ballot box.

Mike Coffman wants to continue working for Colorado. He's the current representative in congress for the district, although he's trailing in the polls, he's a hard working man who loves his district and his state.
Despite the lies of his opponent, he's an independent bi-partisan representative who puts his constituents first.

Despite the media spin, the truth is out there about the Democrat in this race. Mike Coffman deserves to be re-elected. He's a proven commodity with integrity and grit. But to win he is going to require a strong Republican and independent voter turnout. Please support his efforts; volunteer, donate or at least check out his positions on his website. Democrats caught on camera talking about lying for the purposes of election victory is new, only because now they're getting caught on camera for doing it. The Mark Udall campaign joins the parade.
Quite literally, the state of Colorado is going to pot. It's not just that they have lost some manufacturing, they are de-gunning the state. That in conjunction with the new marijuana laws, has Colorado looking like it plans to gradually turn itself into a hippie utopia.
Firstly, the implications of the gun laws are more than just lost jobs but there is a direct implication (you might say unintended consequences) of the state decision.
Colorado responded to the mass shootings in Aurora, Colo., and Newtown, Conn., by passing new gun control measures last month. That's not sitting well with several gun-related businesses in the Centennial State, where four companies have announced plans to relocate all or some of their operations.
Erie-based Magpul Industries is the largest company packing its bags. The 200-employee business makes high-capacity magazines, which the Colorado Legislature voted to ban. In testimony before state lawmakers before the vote, Doug Smith, Magpul's chief operating officer, said the debate hurt the state's economy.
"Our plans to expand our operations in Colorado to a larger build-to-suit facility are currently on hold," he said. "If HB 1224 were to be enacted as law in the state, those plans for Colorado expansion would be canceled."
It's more than just not expanding. Magpul is moving out of the state moving the headquarters to Texas and the manufacturing to Wyoming.
The company says it is leaving because it disagrees with the new gun laws on philosophical grounds.
Then, there's the new marijuana laws. AllahPundit at Hot Air opines that there is one cogent argument against it that carries some water:
Yeah, booze is mainstream while marijuana is countercultural, and that carries all sorts of baggage. There are endless examples of successful, respectable people openly enjoying alcohol (starting with your parents, in all likelihood), but because it’s been verboten to openly enjoy weed, the stoner subculture dominates the popular imagination — even though the last three presidents all partook in their youth. The real innovation in what Colorado’s doing is giving pot a shot to go mainstream. Maybe it won’t work; maybe, after the first surge of curiosity, the bulk of the consumer base will indeed be dudes in sandals and sweatshirts made out of hemp. There’s a reason, though, that the man given the distinction of being the first legal buyer in the state is an Iraq War vet who suffers from PTSD. (Footage of his purchase is in the second clip below.) Advocates are desperate to normalize this by expunging the stoner association as much as possible.
What's next, free love? AllahPundit makes a good point - my visceral gut reaction of "No" is not something that doesn't in itself equate to an argument. Indeed there a lot of libertarian friends of mine who would say that laissez faire government has no place regulating drug consumption. But illicit drugs do have a societal impact that will not simply disappear because it suddenly becomes legal. Legalized alcohol consumption doesn't stop people from driving drunk. Therefore there are laws surrounding consumption if not banning it. The laws are not 100% effective though. People die from alcohol and people die from illegal drugs. The question is what does legalizing pot accomplish? Colorado will indeed be a test case for this experiment. As AllahPundit points out, this really is a test:
Believe it or not, Colorado is the first jurisdiction in the world to allow marijuana to be sold lawfully for recreational purposes. (The Dutch tolerate it but it’s still technically forbidden there.) As one pro-legalization activist put it to the Denver Post, “Today, there will be people around the country buying marijuana. But only in Colorado will they be buying it in stores like this one.”
If it remains a test until some tangible results and their implications can be seen, then like libertarians I have no qualms with the idea. I think the experiment will ultimately fail and be proven to be a bad idea. But the danger is that this is not the likely scenario, it will be more of a domino effect as other liberal states loosen their laws as well without waiting to see what the laws have done to society in Colorado, given the attempts at cultural mind shifting that are ever present in the liberal attack on morality.
In short, 2012 sucked from a conservative perspective. America re-elected the wrong guy. If all you want to read is the headline, you can stop there. But slightly less succinct is the following summary.
There were some horrible shootings in Connecticut and Colorado. While this part is not news, liberal Democrats blamed the guns rather than the shooters.
Republicans nominated a weak nominee in one Mitt Romney. While this part was completely predictable, many conservatives thought on the strength of one VP selection, one conservative speech and one good debate soundly defeating Obama, he was suddenly a cinch to win the White House.
Not Mayans, it's Democrats' debt that flood America.
Despite massive unemployment and crushing new Obama-induced debt, President Obama won the White House, proving many polls correct and many polls wrong. What happened to the polls? Predictably Republicans were left scratching their heads.
Meanwhile Republicans maintained control of the Congress and Democrats kept the Senate. America, foolishly voted for the status quo. Foolishly? Yes, because...
Finally, the fiscal cliff on the Bush Tax rates and government spending cap and the sequester mandated cuts to the military and social programs looms with only days left to reach an agreement. President Obama seems to be fine with the cliff diving. He has tactical reasons to be okay with it. Meanwhile Republicans will not come out of this looking good. They look disorganized, they're still being unfairly portrayed as the party looking out for the rich rather than for everyone, and they are going to get caught seemingly reactive to new plans from the president.
Meanwhile in foreign affairs, the world became a much less safe place because president Nobel Peace Prize, Captain Capitulate & Apologize just doesn't get it. Everything else, from the Mayan Apocalypse to Whitney Houston is not that relevant.
This is really a weird year in terms of convergence of views on the outcome of the presidential election. Polls are all over the place - from the differences between sample skews to the differences between the state polls and national polls, the lack of consistency points to a wide range of potential outcomes. I've never looked at an election with as much optimism and trepidation at the same time.
