This very apt quote comes from Matt Vespa at Townhall:

That doesn’t bode well for Harris’ army of childless cat ladies. Yet, as the Democrats sprint to define Harris, the Republicans need to regroup just as quickly because the lack of messaging in attacking her will come back to bite us. Her record alone is enough to crank out multiple attack lines and ads, and we should focus on that exclusively instead of doubting her racial background and calling her a DEI hire. Those two things will only animate the liberal base who we need to depress and make hopeless again.

Two quotes stood out to me today as synopses of the Colorado court's ill advised decision to remove president Trump from the 2024 ballot.

Victor Davis Hanson on the lie behind it, and the blindly partisan absurdity of the ruling itself:

An “insurrectionist” president does not address unarmed protestors with qualifiers like, “I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.”

How also can one be guilty of insurrection without ever being indicted for such a supposed crime, much less convicted of it? 

Tim Donner on the inevitable outcome of it that will once again slap the Democrat party in the face:

This time, four left-wing Colorado justices attempting to kneecap Trump were not even going to wait on due process – the very foundation of law – to effectively declare Trump guilty of insurrection, a crime for which he has not, repeat not, even been charged. After believing their attempts to wipe Trump off the ballot would be a knockout punch, it is the left that is about to get walloped to the canvas with a right hook. 

...Leftists constantly indicting Trump have actually gotten the reaction they envisioned: forcing the GOP to support Trump. The idea was that Biden would then sail to another term against a convicted criminal sure to repel the American electorate in the end. The strategy has turned into the most classic backfire we have witnessed in some time.

Quote of the day goes to John Sexton at Hot Air for part of his ninth observation about liberal goons stopping a Trump rally;

...But if the issue is lack of civility then that should include the people on the left who seem to think they get to decide when and where anyone they disagree with gets to speak, i.e. Chicago is liberal turf and so the 1st Amendment is regulated by mob action there.

 Yes.  Let's not just gloss over that fact.

Quote of the day goes to Mark Steyn on president Obama's timing regarding his recent comments about ISIS:

With his usual killer comedy timing, the "leader of the free world" told George Stephanopoulos on "Good Morning, America" this very morning that he'd "contained" ISIS and that they're not "gaining strength". A few hours later, a cell whose members claim to have been recruited by ISIS slaughtered over 150 people in the heart of Paris and succeeded in getting two suicide bombers and a third bomb to within a few yards of the French president.

Nailed it.  Not just about the president, but the entire complacent, liberal West. Read his entire post, it's well worthwhile.

Quote of the Election cycle, 2014

To everything there is a season.  In an analysis of a Larry Sabato analysis of the potential for Republicans to gain Congress and the Senate this year, and in which Sabato states that this cycle will the Republicans' to lose, Ed Morrissey notes that Sabato poins to the the potential of a GOP big win.  That is, if the GOP keeps the focus on Obamacare and conservatives don't shoot the GOP in the foot.

To the latter point, Morrissey sums up the situation perfectly:

In this case, we’re better off getting Republicans elected rather than spending this election in a purification effort. Right now, the majority has got to be the priority.

It's only Monday or this gem from Allahpundit at Hot Air, would get quote of the week.  As a matter of fact, I don't see anyone topping this one this week.

Said O this weekend of his massive technological faceplant, “Folks are working around the clock and have been systematically reducing the wait times.” No doubt that’s true; the shutdown might stop the feds from manning the Amber Alert site, but rest assured they’ll find a loophole to keep repairs to Healthcare.gov humming.

Summing up the hypocrisy of the White House, while pointing out the complete failure of the Obamacare web portal in two short sentences is quite impressive.
