I think the time has come to put a pause on this blog. I'm not going to shut it down, but my posting frequency has been suffering of late. I've enjoyed the last 17 years of blogging, but my time availability has declined over the past couple of months due to my work schedule.
As a result, I will not be able to post at a regular interval over the foreseeable future. Therefore I am putting the blog on hiatus, at least temporarily. In the future I will return, but I cannot say exactly when at this time. In the meantime, I will be retaining the domain name
I will be back, I just cannot say when at this time.

The Commerce Department said U.S. gross domestic product—the government’s official economic scorecard—rose at a seasonally and inflation-adjusted 4.3 percent annual rate in the third quarter. The report on the July through September period was delayed due to the shutdown.
“Today’s blockbuster, expectation-smashing GDP report is the latest proof that President Trump’s America First trade and economic agenda continues to turn the page on the Biden economic disaster: American consumers are spending, and American exports are surging,” White House spokesman Kush Desai said. “President Trump built the greatest economy in the world in his first term, and he’s in the process of doing it all over again. Americans can count on benefitting from a historic economic boom in 2026.”
Gross domestic product is a broad measure of the goods and services produced across the economy. Economists had expected the economy to grow at a 3.2 percent annual rate after the second quarter’s 3.8 percent growth.
Prior to the inflation adjustment, the economy grew at an 8.2 percent rate.

Perhaps several dozen "hurray" cheers though. Democrats are in trouble in 2026, and I think it's becoming clear, barring something unforeseen, the GOP majority in congress will expand. So too says Newt Gingrich, no slouch in the political analysis world.
Ending the race-based redistricting - the cheating that has been helping Democrats for 6 decades - has been fixed. That doesn't mean other forms of cheating won't continue and that nothing else in the electoral process needs fixing. Far from it. Nonetheless, this is very good news for fairness, for Republicans, and one more thing for Democrats to rant about.
Come the 2026 midterm election night, this will be brought up again and again by the mainstream media as the real reason for the expanded Republican majority and will by no means be a mandate for common sense, er Republican wins. When that happens, remember to look at this: voter turnout levels and party support percentages. Don't be fooled.
This is what happens when Republicans actually play hard ball the way Democrats play hard ball. Let the Democrats whine about this. Republicans whined previously and it did nothing but cede territory. Republicans are looking good in house races for the midterms, thanks to rule changes they are making in places where they are winning. Redistricting, gerrymandering; who cares what they try to call it. Is it clean? Not really. But is it going to be effective? Yes, very, very likely:
Canada's western province of Alberta, think of it as the Texas of Canada, could vote to depart Canada as early as next year. While the provincial premier Danielle Smith explicitly stated that her government does not endorse it... and then followed up with rule changes for voting and referendum rules; hinting that, if the citizens of the province want to leave, they have a means to do so. Hint, hint.
What a lot of Americans get wrong about Canada, is that it is a liberal leftist haven. It isn't. The Liberal party got 43.7% of the total vote, the Conservative party got 41.3%. That's almost parity. This despite the fact that Canada has ZERO equivalent of Fox News. Canadian media is a Leftist Wasteland. On top of which, what the Liberals do far better than conservatives is allocate their political spend hyper-strategically and to great effect; winning swing ridings (districts) very efficiently. There is a strong conservative inclination in much of Canada, and not just the West.
I live in Ontario, a traditionally Liberal-leaning province. Except that's due almost entirely to the major urban centers. If you get outside of cities like Toronto or Ottawa (like I am), the provincial voters are much more like Alberta voters; conservative, most often Christian, and if you didn't notice an accent, you could easily mistake them for an American conservative voter.
Nevertheless we lost, and are going to suffer even more now, under further far left dogma leadership but this time with a mask of centrism. And believe me, Canada's middle class and working class are being gutted by these policies.
I've seen a lot of comments on YouTube videos from Americans about Canada that are unduly harsh. When you guys were suffering under Let's Go Brandon's atrocious 'presidency', we empathized; we cheered for a return of Trump. Obviously not all Canadians but definitely the majority of conservatives. Some of the comments I have seen have been not only ignorant of the details, but downright belligerent. I get America has been ripped by most every country on earth. I get the America First mentality. I support it in fact. But Canada, DESPITE the leftist leadership of the last decade, has been a stalwart ally of America. Such comments are both undeserved and beneath Americans.
I know it's anecdotal and not necessarily indicative of anything more widespread, but on YouTube at least, it's pretty pervasive. As a Canadian conservative in a province that is left leaning due only to a few densely populated areas, I have to say that sort of response is quite disheartening to see.
Where was she when Nancy Pelosi or even Hillary Clinton was doing nefarious stock trading? AOC = hypocrite. This could be the next impeachment saga in 2026 if the Democrats win congress. To be fair, AOC might not even have been in diapers when Hillary Clinton was trading cattle futures.
