Great News: Buddy Roemer's in the GOP race

Is this Donald Trump 2.0, a planted Democratic version of Operation Chaos?  Who the heck is Buddy Roemer?  He's got the populist talk on a few items but he's just not a true conservative.  In fact, he's governed as a Democrat not too long ago.

Obama risks American energy security (again)

With the world's third largest proven oil reserves, Canada is already the United States' largest supplier of oil.  Oil in Canada is safe, accessible by private enterprise, unlike most oil around the world, and Canada is more than friendly with the United States.  Ramping up oil production dramatically over the next 15 years, Canada is doing what the Obama administration is refusing to do, and is on it's way to becoming an energy superpower.  But along with that extra supply, new demand is needed, and Canada is increasingly looking east for another buyer, as the Obama administration drags its feet on purchasing more oil from its neighbor, instead looking to Brazil, and in the process risking increased reliance on an unstable Middle East.

Permit Baby, Permit!

Late Friday, too late for any major inclusion in the news cycle and likely to be overlooked over the weekend, President Obama's Department of the Interior appealed the court ruling that gave it 30 days to make a decision to approve or deny several deep water drilling permits.  The latest stalling tactic, while not unexpected, is instructive as to the thinking behind the White House decisions.

Obama Trading Time For Voters

President Obama is buying time There's a debt commission. There's going to be a commission into what happened with the BP platform of the coast of Louisiana that caused the oil slick, before any more drilling is allowed. The drilling he's referring to is the drilling he recently 'allowed'. He backed off on immigration reform, saying that he had just worked Congress very hard on health care reform and there is no appetite to tackle another controversial issue right now. Punt, punt, punt.  The President is buying time.  He's stalling.

Let me see if I've got this right...

1. Obama was against "Drill, baby Drill." No oil drilling off the coast of America under Obama.

2. In August 2008 George Soros invested heavily in Brazilian national oil company Petrobas.

3. Soros is behind Moveon.org, a big big big Obama backer.

4. The Obama administration this week underwrote $2 billion of offshore drilling. In Brazil.

5. George Soros converted his Petrobras common stock to Petrobras preferred which paid dividends 2 days prior to the Obama announcement.

6. In a big recession, jobs are needed and investment in America in any form is better than invstment offshore.

7. The reason given to not drill in America during the campaign was that it wasn't green enough.

Conclusion #1

So, it's okay to drill in Brazil because their oil is greener. It's okay to pass a $787 stimulus bill to supposedly stimulate the economy but then spend $2 billion on Brazilian oil.

The disconnect is crazy.

The reason this was done, clearly looks like a payoff to Soros for the election.

Additional considerations

-The cash for clunkers program ended up helping out Japanese automakers more than American automakers.

- A media consulting firm with ties to White House senior strategist David Axelrod has been hired to produce a multi-million dollar ad campaign touting the Obama administration's health care overhaul.

Conclusion #2

This is all about the Benjamins. Obama payoffs, insider trading Chicago style politics, and Blagojevich 2.0.

Wow.

If this were a third world banana republic, it'd be laughable. In America, it's inconceivable that this could go on. Be ashamed. Be very ashamed.

Clean Coal, Solar and/or Drill Baby Drill?

Here's the argument for the government to subsidize clean coal and solar power.



While he makes a good case for both coal and solar power, he inadvertently makes an even better case for drilling here, now (by proxy). Though he doesn't mention it, the difference with drilling is that the government doesn't need to spend or subsidize for drilling oil or natural gas. In fact it generates corporate tax revenue and/or licensing rights levies for states or federally (to some possible extent) and from Income Tax on the jobs that are created. And eventually, it generates sales tax revenue as well. And in fact, since the window of return is shorter than for clean coal or (ugh!) solar, why not 'Drill baby, drill!'? Or at least try the 'all of the above' approach espoused by John McCain .

Any domestic energy production helps the balance of trade deficit, helps federal budgetary revenues, creates jobs and enhances national security. How could anyone be against that? Oh, yeah, I forgot about the environmentalist/socialist crowd who don't care if we are overrun by a hostile despotic power, as long as the owls are safe and global warming, er, climate change is fought with all our combined might...
