Italy has come a long way since WWII. Especially under current prime minister Georgia Meloni. The recent referendum proves it.

This is not an April Fool's Day joke
I wish it were. In France the popular party leader Marine Le Pen has been banned. Why? Because she's been deemed "Far Right". Europe is pretty much dead. Maybe not Italy and Eastern Europe but the traditional Western Europe is anything but Western now. Maybe it is a joke; not the story, but rather Western Europe.

Giorgia Meloni's based approached to Italian governance
It's awesome to see governments and people in Europe move right. In the case of Italy, their current Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is doing a fantastic job leading the country back towards common sense governance.

Meanwhile in Italy
Is Italy actually moving to the right? It seems so, but hopefully this small update is not just part of a temporary blip.

Italian populist election winner gets lost on Twitter
Italy’s election winner, Giorgia Meloni appears to be shadow banned on Twitter.
Via Breitbart,
Twitter appears to be suppressing the results of video searches for the name of Italy’s election winner, Giorgia Meloni, making it harder for users of the platform to discover her speeches. This comes after a clip of a 2019 speech from the future Italian Prime Minister went viral across multiple platforms. In the 2019 speech, Meloni condemns globalist capital for waging war on the family, religion, gender identity, and national identity.
What's her crime? Telling the truth.
This is Italy’s new Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.I’ve never heard any politician so perfectly explain what we’re up against and why we fight. When you watch this video, you’ll quickly realize why the establishment is afraid of her.— Greg Price (@greg_price11) September 26, 2022

Italian Cruise Ship Looks Like Some Euro Economies
I haven't had a lot of opportunity lately to surf the Internet to look at blogs and opinion pieces of late, but I'm still left wondering if anyone else doesn't see the images of the Italian cruise ship run aground and half sunk, as more than just a little symbolic of the debt crises in the Euro zone economies. Clearly the worst case is Greece, but with Italy having a debt -to-GDP ratio of over 1.1 isn't all that stable either.
According to Wikipedia,
According to the EU's statistics body Eurostat, Italian public debt stood at 116% of GDP in 2010, ranking as the second biggest debt ratio after Greece (with 126.8%). However, the biggest chunk of Italian public debt is owned by national subjects, and relatively high levels of private savings and low levels of private indebtedness are seen as making it the safest among Europe's struggling economies...
Nevertheless, debt is debt and it ultimately doesn't matter who holds that debt if it goes to high and a reckoning happens. The symbolic irony is a warning sign for Europe. If you don't want to run aground you have to steer your ship out of the dangerous waters. The problem is that for many passengers aboard the Cruise Ship Euro, the ride and the view are just too sweet to bother changing course.

Insolvent Nations Should Leave EU?
The Hill had an opinion piece on Friday that argued that countries Greece, Portugal and Italy should leave the E.U. That's an interesting proposition, but it's also illogical. The people the article purports to help are the one it will hurt most. The people it blames would be the ones to most benefit from the move.

Italy in trouble
Silvio Berlusconi, leader of a center-right party has offered his resignation as prime minister of Italy in order to get the European Union austerity measure designed to stabilize Europe's apparent next Greece. Italy is a socialist country and the loss of the conservative-leaning Berlusconi does not serve the country well. Nevertheless it seems to be the only way forward and may help prevent this crisis from spreading even more.

Balanced Budget Amendment is on the table
...in Italy. Apparently Italians have more of a stomach for reality than the Greeks, Spanish or America.
Via FT:
The country’s debt is equal to almost 120 per cent of gross domestic product. The Italian government would continue to work on the package through August and parliament could be called back early from its summer recess to pass the necessary legislation, the official said. The measures included a plan to amend the constitution to make a balanced budget mandatory, a second constitutional change that would force “closed professions” to liberalise services, a speeding up of welfare reforms, and other structural reforms designed to boost Italy’s stagnant economy.Cuts in the “cost of politics” – including salaries of elected officials and subsidies to political parties – were also on the agenda, which had been agreed in outline with leaders of employers’ associations and trade unions on Thursday.
Let's hope for Italy's sake this happens, and hopefully for America's sake, people learn a lesson form it.

Europeans Rejecting Socialism. Kinda.
The BBC is reporting on the elections in the European Union this evening, showing a shift towards center right parties. Filling the void of right wing voices from the United States, most European countries shifted away from socialists towards center-right parties.
The governing parties in France and Germany and Italy have held up reasonably well (all conservative-leaning), but elsewhere there's been a shift. In the United Kingdom, the Labor party took a beating. Zapato's Spanish socialist party took a drubbing. Portugal turned away from the socialists as well.
Apparently, the European people in large part are starting to reject that which the liberal Democrats in America are starting to embrace. Good for them.
Way to go Europe. It's a good day for common sense.
