Bernie Sanders is sicker than we thought

The headline applies to his policy ideas obviously but this relates to his recent heart issues and the classic Friday news dump style of the real information being released:

Trump, Hot Mic yawner

Everyone is claiming Donald Trump is done because of an October surprise - Trump caught on a hot microphone talking about women and sex.  Oh, in 2005.  No doubt Democrats and their media cohorts sat on this to release at the most opportune moment.

Not a big deal, outside the beltway.

Frankly, this is another one that I don't think will matter to Trump as long as he does well in the debate on Monday.  Men won't care and women who dislike him enough or like Hillary enough to vote on that basis are already energized and already locked in and likely voters in Hillary's column.  Another factor - Democrats in power are famous for the Friday news dumps when no one is paying attention to the news because it's the WEEKEND.

It makes me think that maybe Democrats and or media liberals rushed this to the front page as soon as they found it.  That doesn't smack of panic at all.  But it doesn't really matter if this was a wasted opportunity or not. The real difference will happen on Monday if Trump performs anemically in the debate. If he does, it's over.  If he does well, then maybe it could have been a Tuesday distraction from positive reviews of Trump by undecided voters.  So either Democrats are worried or the media, and their pollsters are worried.  That's my only takeaway from this.

Thursday Hillary Bash - Email dump 1 of 27 (maybe)

Last Friday, the first of what may be a regular Friday news dump, several thousand of Hillary Clinton's private server emails were released.  Clearly there is damage control going on.  Not only was she talking to someone behind the president's back, not only are many of her emails permanently missing, or classified, but they are spreading out the release of the emails - probably in hopes of burying the needle in the haystack so it won't be found. Or at least delaying the inevitable.

Despite all that, these email releases may be the gift to Republicans that keeps on giving.  The slow drip of information may be a Chinese water torture death for Clinton's presidential ambitions.

Global warming appointees as a news dump

This news dump today isn't remarkable on the surface of it, in fact it's pretty much a yawner.
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, President Barack Obama announced his intent to appoint the following individuals to key Administration posts
  • Charles J. Vörösmarty – Member, Arctic Research Commission
  • Warren M. Zapol – Member, Arctic Research Commission
President Obama said, ”I am grateful that these impressive individuals have chosen to dedicate their talents to serving the American people at this important time for our country. I look forward to working with them in the months and years ahead.”
But there's always more than what's on the surface, just ask the iceberg that sank the Titanic. Yes, that is a deliberate Obama metaphor.

DHS prepares for the election, er deferred deportation

PRESS RELEASE FRIDAY NEWS DUMP:

Here's another great idea, America! You'll love this one.

The following press release this last Friday from Department of Homeland Security, translated by Google from the original Spanish:
WASHINGTON, DC - The Department of Homeland Security today outlined the process of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrived during a conference call with national media in preparation for the implementation date of August 15.

On June 15 the Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, announced that some people who came to the U.S. as children and who meet other specific criteria may be eligible for deferred action on a case by case basis. The Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS, for its acronym in English) is finalizing a process by which eligible individuals can apply to be considered in the Deferred Action for Children Arrived on.

USCIS expects to have available August 15, 2012 all the forms, instructions and additional information relevant to the process of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrived. USCIS will begin immediately after accepting requests for consideration.
August 15th:  Far enough before the election to make a difference.  It's close enough to the election to sway Hispanic voters that the Obama administration thinks about Hispanic issues.  Yet it's too close to the election to have any negative or unintended consequences / backlash effects before election day.

The release, in Spanish, doesn't offer a lot of details, but the release does offer a link to an earlier release back in June that did put specific conditions on applications, and further mentions that these will be addressed on a case by case basis rather than a by the book approach.  That means leeway for bureaucrats.  You know, the same sort who keep running up convention spending on the taxpayers' dime.

There are too many flaws with this dark of night press release and original idea to count, so I'm just sharing what I noticed, and hopefully someone else will have the energy to run with this one.

We can't wait says Obama. But you know we will.

I don't know if the White House has figured out that we've figured out the cynical process of a late Friday news dump so that unappetizing news items get the weekend to cool down and hopefully will be forgotten before Monday.  But either they've caught on and started dumping stupid news items in other time slots, or else they've been doing that all along and we haven't caught on that every single thing out of this white House is bad.

Rachel Maddow might be a useful idiot for the right

This from an unexpected source: Rachel Maddow talks about how the Obama administration has dumped news deliberately on Friday's to avoid the news cycle. It's quite a list. There's some left nut job stuff in her assessment, but she hits on some legitimate points in terms of what President Obama is attempting to keep kept quiet. And it conveniently shows the duplicity and hypocrisy of the Obama administration.

Don't ignore the meaning just because of the source. Maddow is giving us fodder for 2010. If it was wrong for Bush and now it's not, then Bush was right. It needs to be pointed out.
