Tim Walz as emotional support animal

Ouch. Kamala Harris is an absolute train-wreck of a candidate - there's no way she's leading the polls with garbage like this:

Russia invades Ukraine. Let's Go Brandon's response? More sanctions.

Let's Go Brandon is in this fight for political purposes only.  Putin is not in this for all of the Ukraine, just as much as he thinks he can without any serious pushback.  Well he's not getting any serious pushback from Europe, because he's not getting any serious pushback from Let's Go Brandon.  He's not even talking tough.

Let the stock market tank.  Let inflation soar.  Let Canada fail. Let's Go Brandon is afraid to do anything, and even afraid to say anything. My grandmother could have said something or done something more forceful, and she's unfortunately, dead.

I honestly think Let's Go Brandon was selling this whole misadventure as 'Putin will take all of Ukraine' so that when Putin doesn't do just that, Let's Go Brandon can proclaim a win for his tough sanctions.  Putin is smart enough to see that and will stop just short enough to allow Let's Go Brandon to claim his victory and help him try to win another four years as president so that Putin can then go after the Baltic states like Estonia. Let's Go Brandon is a patsy.  He's a patsy for Democrats, he's a patsy for Putin. He's weak and effete. He's pathetic.  Canada has a tougher leader in the smug self-righteous and ham-fisted Justin Trudeau.

There you go America.  This is who you selected as leader of America and the free world. I hope you're proud.

North Korean Nuclear Test

North Korea has apparently conducted an underground nuclear test earlier today. The incident registered as a 5.1 magnitude earthquake. North Korea claims the test was of a Hydrogen Bomb, as opposed to a lower yield Atomic Bomb. South Korean spies claim it was of the latter type.

Regardless, the test drew international condemnation, including from that of their benefactor/protector, China. The U.S. joined in the condemnation.

I would expect no further action from the United States. The president is focused far too keenly on his next domestic agenda item, gun control. He also has a history of excessive softness on foreign policy; with Russia, with China, with Syria, multiple instances with Iran, with Venezuela and previously with North Korea. He's soft and the international perception is that he is ineffectual in projecting American influence.

In other words, he's not going to do anything, and the world is currently an unpoliced Wild West where you can do anything you want without consequences. For example, you can conduct a test of an underground nuclear detonation and get not even a slap on the wrist but rather the geopolitical equivalent of rolling eyes.

Mew

France and Russia have promised Holy Hell in retaliation for the terrorist events that affected their nations. Russia probably will back up it's tough talk (so I'll exempt Russia from the remainder of this commentary).  France is flying sorties and bombing ISIS camps. Weak tea, but still it's something.  Britain and the U.S. have denounced ISIS, using ramped-up stern language.  Canada's new Prime Minister is sticking to his election promise of stopping flying sorties in support of combating ISIS and instead will up our training contingent who are training Iraqi's.  Even if we double that effort it's still likely less than 200 boots on the ground, nowhere near combat if they can help it.

Oh and Obama is doubling down on closing Gitmo.

Bunch of pussy cats.

Your Warnings Mean NOTHING!

Vladimir Putin doesn't give a damn about John Kerry's warning that Russian planes flying over Turkey risk being shot down.  He really doesn't Obama blinked on Iran in 2010 and has been blinking like a mole exposed to a 10 million volt spotlight ever since.

Putin meanwhile, does not care what American leaders say. He's going to do what he wants. Actions might change his mind, but that's been noticeably lacking from this administration.
The first thing to understand about Vladimir Putin is that he’s not content just to win. He has to destroy his opponents, foreign or domestic.

His deeds may be despicable and his manners far too crude for the Upper West Side, but the guy is a force of nature, a man who — by sheer strength of will — has used a broken country and its rusting military to change the world. Meanwhile, our astonished president sulks like a high school girl stood up by her boyfriend (“But Vladimir . . . you promised!”)...

Expect a lot more aggression and violence from Putin between now and Inauguration Day 2017. Obama’s delusional worldview — that of a narrow-shouldered, bleeding-heart undergraduate at a second-rate university — is a gift to Putin that keeps on giving. (In almost seven years in office, Obama still hasn’t grasped that words don’t stop bullets.)
Putin has his own path, and he won't flinch in following it. Not with mamby pamby Chamberlainian leadership in America. Not with China threatening more and more to replace Russia as the Asian superpower. Kerry, your warnings really mean nothing.
