Republicans doing Democrats' dirty work now

The DOJ investigation into Hunter Biden is what it is.  What the Republicans need to do is hold off until closer to the election to ensure this sticks to the eventual Democrat nominee.  Maybe now is the time to start that, I don't know.  My point is too soon is just as bad as too late.

The timing of her arrest is suspicious

It's understandable that Jeffrey Epstein's confidant Ghislaine Maxwell has been arrested.  She's been implicated in what Jefferey Epstein was doing. But why now, so close to an election?    Is it another attempt to link president Trump to something?  Is it the swamp slowly being drained?  The timing is curious, suspicious even.

Roy Moore charges - timing seem really odd.

I'm curious. Why did all of these accusations against Roy Moore not come out until just prior to the Alabama election? They didn't come to light during the primaries. All of these women making the claims, seem to be 'Republicans'. But the suspicion that raises is that if these people were indeed Republicans why didn't these allegations come out during the primaries?

Why wouldn't Moore's primary competitors have a chance to raise it?  They likely had not heard of it, that's why.

And why would they have not been informed during the primaries?  Why would the media have not been informed during the primaries?  Suddenly these accusations come to light right before the election. The accusations didn't matter a month ago? Or back as far as 1977 when some of them were alleged to have happened.  Really odd timing. 

Unless the accusers are actually Democrats.  It would certainly help Democrats in the election if the Republican candidate were badly tarnished.  And even if he wins, Republicans have played right into Democrat hands, by threatening to basically excommunicate him from the party, without any judicial decision on Roy Moore.

Timing is almost everything

I've got a job interview - actually a phone screen interview - this morning and yesterday I came down with a wicked head cold and some sort of infection.  Timing is almost everything.  Nevertheless I will muddle through as best I can, because perseverance and preparedness have to count for something, right? Details matter.

If I were the president and these scandals were all unfolding, I would make sure that I controlled how the information about each of these scandals came out.  I wouldn't be surprised if the terrible leader was still being a very good politician and doing everything he can behind the scenes to control not only the spin on everything coming out, but the timing.

I hope his political opponents are thinking the same thing. Look at the Guardian interviews with whistleblower/traitor Snowden on the NSA leaks.  Not everything came out at the same time, and the ACORN investigation/sting run by James O'Keefe was bled out slowly with one video at a time.  It made the scandal loom larger, hold the public consciousness longer and also gave the agency enough rope (time) to hang itself by claiming, each time, that these were isolated incidents.

My point is simple - those involved in investigating these scandals are facing a hyper-political administration.  There had better be some thought going into managing the politics and the timing of revelations.  All at once could overwhelm the administration and also the public's perception, but it could also result in a temporary impact.  It could also mean that the various scandals will compete for the headlines and to a degree, cancel each other out.  That may be what the president is hoping to have happen.  On the other hand, a slower, staggered release of scandal-related material may have a longer lasting impact but take longer to take hold.  There are pros and cons to how to handle all these concurrent scandals.  I'm not sure that Republicans are staying on top of how to manage them all, but they should be.

Meanwhile, I hope my voice holds up for an hour.

Miss me yet?

George Bush was no Barack Obama, but is this untimely or what?  He's right about this but is a reminder of the Bush years going to help the Democrats get out the vote effort?  It certainly might.  If I were conspiracy minded I'd really question the motivation for this.  As it is I'll just question the wisdom of the 'miss me yet?' president's timing.

Opportunity is Knocking and Timing is Everything

One of the things I like to do is connect the dots.  Not in some sort of crazy consiracy theorist sort of way, but rather linking together events or ideas in the spirit of James Burke.  Mr. Burke was able to connect seemingly unrelated pieces of history together to find a common thread of social and technical progress that, when put together make a lot of sense and indeed seem to have followed a logical path.

The real excitement though is finding events that link together when not all of those events have yet occured.  That's what I mean by timing is everything.

Over at Hillbuzz, a group of disenfranchised Hillary Clinton supporters have just recently become so disillusioned with the Obama left, they have decided to switch to Independent and possibly even vote for a Republican candidate if they aren't what they term a "religious zealot".

That is an OPPORTUNITY awaiting action.

Cue Sarah Palin's book release and next weeks visit to the Oprah Winfrey show. She has an historic opportunity to re-brand herself to a large swath of the American public.  A positive appearance, with insightful, intelligent and measured communication, an endearing approach would do wonders.  That Hillary supporters have just become 'officially' disenfranchised with Obama, and Oprah viewere may in fact constitute a large portion of the Hillbuzz crowd, means that the timing is not just an opportunity but a golden opportunity for Sarah Palin to make some serious inroads into her negative image scores in a short period of time.
