Another Obama Then and Now Moment
But there's also the thug nation approach to politics.
Obama then;
And Now;
(more now;)
Intimidation, mob rule, and deceit. Some things never change.

The real reason Democrats win
From the Washington Post:
On the day the new Congress convened this year, Sen. Dianne Feinstein introduced legislation to route $25 billion in taxpayer money to a government agency that had just awarded her husband's real estate firm a lucrative contract to sell foreclosed properties at compensation rates higher than the industry norms.
This from the Yahoo/AP:
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Taxpayers are increasingly exposed to losses and the government is more vulnerable to fraud under Obama administration initiatives that have created a federal bank bailout program of "unprecedented scope," a government report finds.
In a 250-page quarterly report to Congress, the rescue program's special inspector general concludes that a private-public partnership designed to rid financial institutions of their "toxic assets" is tilted in favor of private investors and creates "potential unfairness to the taxpayer."
And this from CQ Politics:
Rep. Jane Harman , the California Democrat with a longtime involvement in intelligence issues, was overheard on an NSA wiretap telling a suspected Israeli agent that she would lobby the Justice Department reduce espionage-related charges against two officials of the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee, the most
powerful pro-Israel organization in Washington.Harman was recorded saying she would "waddle into" the AIPAC case "if you think it'll make a difference," according to two former senior national security officials familiar with the NSA transcript.
...
In exchange for Harman's help, the sources said, the suspected Israeli agent pledged to help lobby Nancy Pelosi , D-Calif., then-House minority leader, to appoint Harman chair of the Intelligence Committee after the 2006 elections, which the Democrats were heavily favored to win.
And from CBS:
Spring in Washington is "earmark season" - a busy time for Congressman John Murtha.
"That's my business," Murtha said. "I've been in it for 35 years."
As head of a powerful Defense committee, Murtha controls hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars, reports CBS News investigative correspondent Sharyl Attkisson. And he's not shy about directing money to those who give generously to his election campaigns.
CBS News has learned that this month, Murtha is steering new earmarks toward 10 companies that recently donated to his campaign. Murtha wants $8 million for Argon ST, a defense contractor whose CEO gave Murtha the maximum allowed by law - $2,400 by an individual. He's directing a $5 million earmark toward Advanced Acoustic Concepts, which also gave the max - $5,000 for a political action committee - to his campaign. In all, 10 recent Murtha donors are slated to receive $31 million in Murtha earmarks for 2010.
Taxpayer watchdogs may not like how it looks, but it's not against the law unless donations were required in order to receive the earmarks. Looking for evidence of wrongdoing, the FBI has recently raided offices of two other companies linked to Murtha.
...
Murtha wouldn't comment for our report. He did recently tell a home state newspaper that he's only trying to bring home the bacon.

So while ACORN is a problem, the real issue here is that Democrats know how to game the system. They get the big donors. They obviously play the behind the scenes game a little too well. It's corrupt, but it wins.
The problem for Republicans is that they still have the stench of complacent corruption on them. But in the current climate, absent a real grassroots change, it seems to be the way to stack the deck in favor of your side and it's stacked against the GOP. The choice for the GOP is to play the game to get the money to get the message out and win, while succumbing to corruption OR cleaning house and trying to win on principle from the ground up.
The path of least resistance is to join in on the cheat. That's the path politicians are prone to take. But if the Tea Parties continue to build momentum they may become the path of least resistance because it's cheaper to win on popularity than on back room deals.
The real reason Democrats win, is not the way that is good for the country. Maybe it's the Chicago way, but it's not the American Way. This may be the year of crossroads for the GOP. Let us hope they choose wisely.

ACORN dissidents

Police in Baltimore today made what is believed to be the first arrest in a civil disobedience program aimed at supporting homeowners who refuse to vacate their foreclosed homes.
An activist with ACORN — the Association of Community Organization for Reform Now — faces criminal charges after breaking into a home in southeast Baltimore on Thursday to protest the foreclosure crisis sweeping the country.
"This is our house now," ACORN member Louis Beverly reportedly said after cutting a lock with bolt cutters at the home.
Beverly will be charged with fourth-degree burglary, according to Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesman for the Baltimore Police.
Joe Cox, a community organizer for ACORN in Baltimore, said Monday's arrest was not a surprise.
"We definitely expected some kind of a response," Cox said. "We understand people have to do their jobs and we hope that they understand that we're doing this to highlight the issue."Cox said he expects homesteading — refusing to vacate a foreclosed property — will become common as blame for the foreclosure crisis increasingly shifts from homeowners to financial corporations.
"This program is saying, 'We are not going,'" Cox said last week. "People say we're breaking the law, but we don't see how putting a person back in an abandoned property is harming anyone."ACORN launched its "Home Savers" campaign in New York earlier this month and plans to expand the program to at least 22 other cities and three counties nationwide in the coming weeks.
Participants like Beverly say they will refuse to move out of foreclosed homes or reclaim properties altogether until a comprehensive federal housing plan takes affect.

Economic house of cards

When you stand back and take a look at the individual elements of the Democrats approach to the economy, whether it be in relation to the current economic 'crisis' or in an overall view of their belief system, a clearer picture of things starts to emerge. It's something conservatives haven't effectively tried to connect the dots on. Their approach to every issue ties into some other aspect of their approach. It's either a clever holistic approach or a patchwork of disparate agendas piled on top of each other that require certain philosophical approaches to keep things from coming apart at the seams. The latter seems more plausible, because upon taking time to examine the the structural integrity of the interconnections, the house of cards really begins to crystallize.
A house of cards is built by layering on multiples of legs standing against each other for support. There's an inherent structural weakness in that removing one card can cause a collapse. When someone therefore, makes an Empire State Building out of cards, it's quite impressive - an achievement of effort, dedication and patience. When a group of people try to cobble together a political philosophy on the same principle, it's inherently dangerous - for them as a political movement, and for the country as a whole.
The Democratic party has a few legs it is able to stand on that, especially in light of a massive spending bill, that apparently will get passed in some form. But a few of the elements that lean on each other do so in some untenable ways. For example, Democrats favor a minimum wage at a fairly high level. But they also favor naturalizing illegal immigrants. Which means scads of cheap labor I suppose the theory goes. But then they favor extensive family planning and legalizing abortion, which probably inhibits domestic population growth in the lower income range more than other ranges. Which means that the re-supply of cheap labor has to come once again from immigration, and to get the numbers needed, means that would include illegal immigration sourcing. Not to mention that the whole tying together of these practices seems as anti-African American as it does pro-immigration. If the African American population is under served by the United States educational system (and elsewhere), then how is adding to the population doing anything to support that demographic? It's just crowding it out - and family planning isn't helping the matter any. Yet the African American community is a pillar of Democrat support. Would it continue to be if it realized the situation fully? Hence the house of cards.
A - minimum wage + B - naturalizing illegal immigrants = C - cheap labor BUT
D - family planning/abortion = E - lower income families reduced = F - reduced labor supply = G - more immigration needed + G - domestic lower income families disenfranchised.
Further looking at the foundations around that leg, another card is the ACORNs of the world. The Democratic party either blindly or with a blind eye, is indirectly engaged in voter fraud. So if that intersects with illegal immigrants being made able to vote, and tangible proof is found, the whole leg of naturalizing illegals, and not preventing illegal immigration is exposed as duplicitous and again, the house would come collapsing down.
Keep in mind that the liberal agenda is all about creating a dependant class, that can be manipulated and controlled by promising them what amounts to a meager share of the opportunity to achieve the American Dream. When you take the time to connect the dots, it's pretty easy to find all sorts of weak spots in the liberal agenda. That makes our job as conservatives a lot easier to define, and the opportunity for victory that much easier.
Next up - a couple of other legs to remove from the house of Democrat cards.

Eugenics in America?
Of course it has sinister connotations of racism, and it has rightly fallen into ill repute. But eugenics can take on much more subtle, yet sinister forms, and in a rather mercurial way, it seems it is something that is being practiced by the left today. I'm not implying that Democrats are racists, or have some secret master race belief that motivates their actions. No, what motivates the left is the acquisition and retention of power. And the form of eugenics that takes is not racial but rather socio-political engineering.
In this sense eugenics is about trying to limit conservative voters either in numbers or in participation, while trying to artificially inflate the voter base on the left.
Let's look at some recent examples - many Democrats favor naturalization of illegal immigrants in the belief that it provides them with a stronger lock on the growing Hispanic demographic. Simply put more Hispanics means more Democrats. In a recent article on the World Socialist Web Site there was an article decrying the disenfranchisement of voters with felony convictions and how it disproportionately affects the African American male. Clearly there is a political motivation behind the complaint, despite the couching of phrases that try to paint the United States as a giant gulag. Another example can be found in the ACLU's attempt to allow unidentifiable voters to vote. In the excerpt below the article ties the ACLU challenge to a Democrat challenge that requires voters to be identified in order to vote. Apparently voter fraud is not a concern, but rather something the ACLU regards as an opportunity to rig the game in favor of the left.
ACLU Disappointed With Supreme Court's Voter ID Decision (4/28/2008)
Decision Will Harm Eligible Voters, But Leaves Door Open To Future New Legal Challenges FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: (212) 549-2666; mailto:emedia@aclu.org
WASHINGTON - In a 6-3 decision, the U.S. Supreme Court today rejected a challenge to Indiana's most-restrictive-in-the-nation voter identification law. The American Civil Liberties Union's case, Crawford v. Marion County Election Board - consolidated with Indiana Democratic Party v. Rokita - is an appeal of two lower court decisions that upheld the state's law requiring voters to present government-issued photo IDs in order to vote. The ACLU argued that the Indiana law creates an
unconstitutional burden on voting rights.
(Emphasis added).
Then there's ACORN. The penultimate liberal voter eugenics machine of today.
ACORN is neutral? Count how many times they endorse Obama in those previous 2 clips. They complain about disenfranchisement but is it really that or just an effort to keep the game fair? Conservative Dave nailed it.
Then there's conservative voter disenfranchisement. There's something tangible to this:
Eugenics might not be the right word, but it has an appeal in it's application. If people rightly loathe the idea of eugenics, then perhaps conservatives should do what the Democrats do so well - use the language in a way that supports and reinforces your point.
Then again, maybe eugenics fits. What is it all of these efforts have in common? The effort to encourage an increase in liberal voters and/or decrease the turnout of conservative voters. So it may not be eugenics in terms of population management, but it sure seems like an effort to control the voting population. If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it just might be a duck.
