Vaclav Klaus, the former leader of the Czech Republic, a former Soviet captive nation, has been a champion of free markets. In a speech at Columbia university, he said he'd never expected to see this type of government interventionism in his lifetime. He's someone who has lived under communist rule and has seen the dangers it encapsulates for personal liberty and economic growth suggested an obvious alternative.
"The best thing to do right now would be to temporarily weaken, if not repeal,"
business regulations on labor, the environment, social issues and health, he
said.
