More Global Warming debunkificationisms

Lots of feedback poured in on the global warming expose I re-posted over the weekend. It's a phenomenal expose on the climate change that was aired on the BBC a couple of years back. I urge you to share it with as many people who will listen. William Gairdner has a good essay on the subject that covers much of the same ground. [Thanks to Richard for the tip.]

You may have noticed, they've changed the name to climate change. That's marketing. Climate changes constantly, and is irrefutable. What they don't tell you is that it's natural. I continue to call it global warming because it helps point out that their premise is flawed or fictional.

Liberals are great at using words. Better than conservatives. Pro-choice sounds better than pro-abortion for example. Their better use of the language of marketing puts them at a debate advantage when we allow them to get away with it. We need to call them on it because it helps our case when we identify these tricks for what they are.

The demands to fight global warming have 'snowballed' over the last decade, with the charge being led by the likes of Al Gore. And with that, rationalism, and principled debate on the facts have been screamed off the table. If you disagree you are an Earth heretic, and we can't have those.

As Rush Limbaugh has noted, it's become akin to a religion. Belief is all-important. Dogma is present. Guilt is present. And disbelievers are shunned and/or shamed. So a bad religion, but much like a religion nonetheless.

I'd like to add the following additional documentary coverage to the debate as well. These are from my native Canada, and the normally very liberal CBC. Hey, even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

  1. You know, in going back to school as a non-traditional freshman (meaning I'm in my 30's and way past stumbling into class drunk from the night before), I was abruptly reminded this morning of the strong liberal influence on higher education.

I walked into my SCI 1101 class (which I assumed was a very basic science course that was created for us business majors to fulfill a minimal science requirement) only to find out that SCI 1101 is, in fact, Environmental Science. So, as a very conservative Economics Major, I have to sit through a semester of some tree hugging liberal scientist-turned-professor telling me about the dangers of global warming.

The introduction actually went so far as to read "a general overview of environmental science in order to prepare well informed voters."

So, just another testament to their successful mission on beginning the liberal agenda brainwashing at a young and impressionable age.
