My inner dialogue on Let's Go Brandon's verbal gaffes

A thought occurs to me about Democrats needing to put a gag order on Let's Go Brandon.  From the perspective of the 2024 election, the more he speaks the more likely he is to lose the election. So the question for me becomes, how badly will he hurt national security if he's allowed to spew stream of semi-consciousness 'thoughts' versus how badly will he hurt the country if he gets re-elected.

There's no easy answer to that question, but I'm leaning more towards the notion that the damage from four more years of this buffoon are far greater than the occasional accurate slip of the tongue advising enemies of America's real status (like being low on ammunition). So maybe it's better for America to risk him spilling the beans from time to time than shutting him up.  The more he speaks the more he hurts his chances for re-election, and that's a good thing.

LOL: The impeachment talk is distracting from every issue

It's almost June. The year is approaching the half way mark a lot faster than anticipated for a lot of people. Quite a bit has happened this year, except from Democrats on Capitol Hill.  While they are stuck on impeachment delusion, the country continues to prosper, and geopolitical threats continue to exist.

China for example is talking about withholding rare earth metals in the continuing trade war with America.  Is that a sign they may not be willing or able to sell their U.S. treasuries (their nuclear option) despite some tough talk from the Chinese?  It's hard to say, but if you ask Democrats you'd probably get a confused look because impeachment sucks up so much oxygen in their world, there's no room for anything else.

Iran is saber rattling big time.  While the Washington Post and others might be disparaging the president's policy on the issue as incoherent or blusterous (it's neither, but that's for another day), Democrats are getting serious about the issue.  Wait, no they're still only talking impeachment.

Venezuela is trying to extract itself from the grips of a socialist driven starvation and poverty in an admirable exercise in attempted self liberation. The president is trying to help.  Democrats are talking about impeachment and subpoenas. 

The border crisis is ongoing.  Democrats are mustering their courage to begin impeachment proceedings.

I could go on, but you get the picture. Luckily, this will lead to Democrat electoral defeats across the board in 2020, because voters see a booming economy and real existential issues that still need to be confronted, both at home and abroad. Democrats only see impeachment. The singular focus of the Democrats is myopic and ultimately self-destructive.  In that light you have to wonder if A.G. Barr and president Trump knew that letting Mueller loose to repeat what he had already said, and (maybe) hint at congress to impeach the president would ultimately work in the president's favor.  I'm betting they did.

President Trump will win re-election.

Despite the pack of partisan wolves attempting a take down of a duly elected sitting president, things are ticking along quite well for America in president Trump's first year.  The president has done a lot to ensure things will get better in America. President Trump's job approval ratings appear to be rising, despite the blind, bitter hysteria of the mainstream media. Take that George Will.

Meanwhile, what the hell was president Obama up to while in office when he let Hezbollah traffic drugs into America and allow hundreds of millions in money laundering?  That's the real treason.  All of this and Hillary Clinton's civil war will add up to a president Trump re-election and a decent 2018 for the GOP, assuming the tax reform bill gets signed in the next week or so.  Quote me on that.

I've shied away from political predictions in the past, but despite all the talk of a Democratic wave election in 2018, I'm not seeing it at all.  In fact, the Democrats' efforts to torpedo the president since before Day 1, combined with the Republicans' infighting in the senate has actually helped both the president and the GOP.

By delaying tax reform until the eve of 2018, the big rev-up of America's economic engine will happen just in time for the November midterms, instead of a year earlier and having perhaps become the new normal and therefore discounted by election night.  And if that's the case, and jobs and economic growth are in full swing, then a possible Republican expansion in the senate is not only still possible but even likely. And if that's the case imagine what becomes possible between 2018 and 2020 in terms of real reform.

The sad thing is, she'll probably win re-election

Florida Democrat Frederica Wilson is doubling down on her story by attacking a General.  The sad thing is, she'll probably win re-election.

Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.) is calling for an apology from White House chief of staff John Kelly for "character assassination."

“Not only does he owe me an apology, but he owes an apology to the American people,” Wilson said during an appearance Sunday on MSNBC’s “AM Joy," according to The Washington Post.

An apology?  For this brilliant attempt to diffuse the situation and well, call Wilson out for who she really is:

Yep America, this is one of your congresswomen.  It must be a proud moment for you.

Why Obama won re-election

No rational, thinking person would give Obama a second chance, but he won re-election.  How is that possible?

Well, people like this are allowed to vote.  It's both amusing and sad that people can be this clued out and still be part of the group responsible for electing the leader of the free world.  I bet if Peter Griffin were running most of these people would for him - even though he's a cartoon.

Anemic Obama recovery

Back in September of 2009, The Economist declared that the recession the country was in was over as of June of that year.  That being the case, how has the recovery been for you?  It has by standards of recent recoveries, not been so good for the United States.  After a steep decline you'd expect a steep recovery, would you not?  That hasn't been the case with the Obama-(mis)led recovery.

Obama sells America down the Volga

You may have already seen this but if you haven't, it should send chills down your spine that the president is willing to sell out national defense considerations (missile defense specifically) with the Russians in exchange for Putin backing off on America so that Obama can win re-election.

This is as much of an eye opener as the Joe the Plumber comment by Obama about spreading the wealth.

Last election? Let's make sure it is his last stand politically and an unsuccessful one to be sure.

Dictator Watch - Putin re-election edition

If you look like a movie villain...

Slick Russian strongman is going to sail to a tainted re-election that everyone knew would happen.

(Reuters) - Vladimir Putin won a resounding victory in Russia's presidential election on Sunday, exit polls showed, securing a new six-year term in the Kremlin and a mandate to deal with opposition protests after a vote that opponents said was marred by fraud.

Two television exit polls, released after voting ended at 1700 GMT, forecast the former KGB spy would win 59.3 and 58.3 percent of the votes, enough to make a runoff against the second-placed candidate unnecessary.

His nearest rival, communist Gennady Zyuganov, fell short of 20 percent in both polls.

What is not as obvious is what portion of the votes he received actually represent valid vote totals. Specifically he had to make his opponents look bad while winning so that no runoff voting would be required.

Putin's opponents said voting in many parts of the vast country was skewed to help him return to the presidency after four years as prime minister and vowed to step up the biggest protests since he rose to power 12 years ago.

But although they portray him as an authoritarian ruler who is out of touch, his victory had not been in any doubt.

The main challenge for Putin, credited by many Russians credit with rebuilding the country's image and overseeing an economic boom, was to win outright in the first round.

But buried in the Reuters story was this concerning little tidbit that reveals Putin's true designs and opinions on his own leadership of Russia. (emphasis added)

...opposition protests were sparked by the disputed December 4 election, but anger was focused at Putin, who bungled the September 24 announcement of his presidential bid by appearing simply to inform Russians that he would rule for another six years.

Putin's second stint as president should be a major concern for the west, in light of his naked ambition and heavy handed approach to everything from how he deals with his opposition to how he deals with international affairs. Putin is bad news for Russia and bad news for the world at large.

Oxymoronic SOTU

A quick preview of the president's State of the Union.would be remiss if it did not include the notion that the president is going to take the opportunity to use the opportunity as a campaign speech.  Indeed, many see it as the president's kick-off of his 2012 re-election effort (aside from the myriad of fundraisers that have been going on for months).  The president's speech in that spirit will do three things.  It will argue that the country is hurting and it will require more of his efforts to fight income inequality.  Secondly, in an oxymoron destined to go mostly unchecked, it will call for more spending and lower deficits.  Finally he will work in there somewhere, a narrative that he hopes will hold is that the country is spinning its wheels because of a Do Nothing Congress.

What is that going to look like?

Obama: Politics before leadership (part 5)

Politics before leadership yet again. In one video, with a Tea Party versus Occupy Wall Street lead-in, there are a series of Obama hypocrisies laid out in a few short minutes. All because he wants to be re-elected more than he wants to lead (at least that is, until after he's re-elected).

Jobs: What Obama COULD do without Congress

The president plans to run against a do nothing Congress for not supporting his jobs bill (aka stimulus 2).  He put out a ludicrous and 'unbreakable' bill that he knew the GOP wouldn't approve (for that matter Senate Democrats stalled on it too).  The second phase of his re-election plan was to say, okay we'll break it into smaller pieces and try to pass it that way.  The third phase was to say, "look, we can't wait for Congress, I'm going to see what I can do without them."

Here's a clue Mr. President - Approve the Keystone pipeline project now, not in 2013 (or never) - that's 20,000 jobs right there.

The bluster about him (and only him) being all over the jobs issue is simply hot air.  He's not.  He's all over his re-election effort and the hypocrisy on Keystone proves it.  When supposedly he pivoted to jobs, he was pivoting to his own re-election efforts.  Shameful.  The irony is that by trying to win green voters, he's probably angered union voters in equal or greater numbers.  These were not McJobs, they were skilled labor roles, engineering jobs, construction jobs.  

Nice work Mr. President - wrong on all counts, even your re-election bid.

The Obama plan IS 'no plan'

There is no plan.

There's one obvious point that I think is being largely missed in the right blogoshpere with regards to the debt ceiling and the budget cuts debate. If not being missed, perhaps it is being skimmed over but it is an important point that should be a Republican talking point at every interview they get - be it on Fox, CNN or MSNBC.

The point is that we can say with virtual certainty that the President is playing politics with the debt ceiling. The reason for that certitude is that while he is trashing the GOP plan he has put no plan on the table whatsoever. That is clearly deliberate.

Obama's shot in the dark election offering

President Obama has to come up with something better than 1 to 2 percent of GDP growth in 2012 and better than 8.75% or higher expected unemployment in order to win re-election next year.  Expect his team to come up with something that will not be painful to taxpayers, not painful to the debt, but offers a lot of free money to a supposedly disadvantaged group that may represent a very significant, and very worried portion of the electorate, and to do so about a year from now.  This may be his best chance at re-election, but it won't be without risking significant harm to the nation.

Since the Republicans came out yesterday with another plan to move forward, seemingly in defensive mode yet again, this post may be a day late.  But it's not going to be a dollar short.  I was thinking of a plan yesterday morning to out maneuver the president and still get something done on the debt ceiling and government spending. My idea - go long. Offer Obama something even bigger than what he asked for because he doesn't really want something big.  He wants something that makes him look big.  So make him look small and petty because after all, he's putting politics ahead of the nation's interests.  He's all about re-election.  And his drive to include tax increases as part of a package is all about pleasing the left base, about stoking class warfare and the cuts are about appealing to the middle.  He's rounding up voter groups.  Never mind all of his lack of substance, he's in it for the optics.  So destroy the optics.

Prediction on Obama's Afghan Draw Down Speech

The prediction in one word: punt.

Obama's speech today is not a coincidence

President Obama is expected address the nation today to address the Middle East, oil and probably try to allay fears about the impacts on gas prices and the anemic economic recovery.  It's not a coincidence that it is timed to the Saudi Arabia 'Day of Rage' protests expected today.  I have to admit that the President is trying to get out in front of something for a change instead of voting Not Present on the Middle East for quite some time (since Iran's attempt at a Green Revolution).  What concerns me now is not the fact that he's finally paying serious attention to important events, but rather what his responses might be. This might be for national security an out-of-the-frying-pan-and-into-the-fire moment.
