Hey Tea Party, Where Are You?

In a recent New Yorker article that brings a disturbing image of Pelosi power-walking to mind, it's evident that Democrats are working their collective donkeys off for 2012 and the GOP, Tea Partiers and conservatives seem to be just sitting back and watching the GOP primaries.  You can't win by being a spectator.

The President is apparently dealing directly with McConnell and Boehner bypassing Reid and Pelosi to reach an agreement.  That's how you know his wheeling and dealing are strictly about re-election.  He has something he wants and he can't be bothered to have those demands filtered through intermediaries any longer.  Compromise is not always a bad thing, if there's a benefit to both sides.  The question conservatives have to ask themselves about the debt ceiling deal - if indeed one gets done today - is what exactly did they gain from the deal that's on the table.  

U.S. Military and the Tea Party: Volunteer Armies

In his early life Cecil Day Lewis, the father of actor Daniel Day Lewis, was a communist. In the late 1930's (1930-1938) he was even a member of the communist party. However, as the years passed he became disillusioned with communism.  In 1938 as his disillusionment was growing, along with a sense of British patriotism and an understanding of an inevitable war to come, he released a selection of poems which included The Volunteer a portion of which is included below (emphasis added).

Friday Musical Interlude For Tea Partiers

This song was written about anti-Semitism.  Today, the left is probably regretting that it tried to portray Tea Partiers as a lunatic fringe. Disparage the people at your peril.  Meanwhile, conservatives are the ones supporting Israel rather than Hamas these days. 

While I will resist the temptation to call the far left a lunatic fringe, it's clear at this point that Tea Partiers are not one. That will be proven in just a few days.

Don't Worry - They Still Hate You

I just finished posting about how the Democrats are going to hold their collective noses and embrace the Tea Parties as much as they can for the next few months.  Obviously the internal polls look abysmal.  It doesn't mean they've found religion, liberty, fiscal sanity or anything of the sort.  Though they'll gladly play that role on TV.  They need your vote.  Now they don't necessarily hate you, but they do more closely align with the likes of Huffington Post types who can not so slickly hide their hatred.
