Jon Stewart quitting The Daily Show and I think...

Well, good. I think it will benefit America. I googled Jon Stewart and the sidebar had this description of The Daily Show:

Accused by some of misinforming its core audience of young adults about international news, this series doesn't hide the fact that it's not a news program and only uses newsworthy stories as a jumping-off point to satire. In addition to celebrity and politician interviews, Stewart and his staff perform skits to get their points across.

"Doesn't hide the fact that it's not a news program"???? It tries to hide the fact that it's a comedy program because the MAIN POINT of the show is to promote liberal viewpoints. The comedy is the palatable vehicle of delivery that makes it's young, impressionable audience continue to tune in. It's a news program for the gullible. The description above goes on to use the phrase "perform skits to get their points across."

That's because they have a point to get across, a liberal viewpoint of the news they claim not to be covering! Apparently a lot of people still don't realize that.  Certainly whoever wrote that info blur didn't see the irony of contracting him or herself in a single paragraph.

Not only are they liberal at the Daily Show, they are hiding behind comedy instead of facing the very real criticism directed their way. Mock conservatism, trumpet liberalism and then claim to be a comedy show when confronted on the issues. That's weak.

Jon Stewart gone? Good.

Rick Perry may be over. Or not. But probably.

There's buzz on the Internet over the Rick Perry "was he drunk video".  There's an 8 minute version circulating that edited together makes him see really off.   This is the full length version, and I'd encourage you to view it before making up your own mind.  Nevertheless, the damage may be done.  As Jon Stewart said "Best case he drunk, worst case - he's sober."

Is he possibly falling on his sword to rescue the conservatives' last best hope - Herman Cain? Nah. But he' sure helped create a diversion from Cain's 12 year old non-harassment harassment issue.

As for Perry, if he and Cain were to switch spots in the polling and Perry was still the front runner, this would hurt him perhaps in the general election and not the primary.  But after Perry's precipitous decline this may just be the final nail in his candidacy.  It might not be, but the timing for his campaign is absolutely terrible.

You want ignorant?

Take a look at the disgraceful, hateful signage at the Jon Stewart rally to 'restore sanity'.  I want no part of that sort of 'sanity'.

I'm sure Glenn Beck doesn't care too much about himself being vilified, but the point is that these supposedly more sophisticated and intellectual advocates of a greater society are ignorant in their treatment of Beck, and ignorant in their arguments. Hypocritical too. Granted it's hard to fit a detailed argument on a sign. But it's not hard to avoid the devil horns and Hitler mustaches.

Side Note: It's frustrating but not surprising to see interviews with people who think Jon Stewart tells the whole truth and is fair. It's especially galling to hear it from people who haven't taken the time to watch an episode or two of Beck and rely on 'excerpts' to form an opinion.

Jon Stewart's hypocritical 'cause'

I decided a while ago to not spend too much time on entertainers and their myopic views on the politics of the nation.  Mostly, their views are irrelevant and unimportant. Typically, they are not highly informed.  Of course there are exceptions.  One can be highly informed, and still be wrong though. The real problem is, they often are given weight far beyond their true value.  I find myself needing to comment on one Jon Stewart today.  

Hat Tip - Hot Air

I've got to tip my hat to Hot Air today. They've killed it with their articles on May 13/14. They're consistently a good source of information on issues from a conservative perspective. Today however, they nailed a bunch of topics that when looked at as a whole, shape a pretty clear picture. Outstanding.

The economy - the path Obama and the Democrats have chosen has disaster written all over it.

How much of the Porkulus bill has been spent? Do you really want to see this?

US speeding towards a financial crash. Ouch. The graph in the page is telling, disturbing.

Housing foreclosures are accelerating. Really? Who'd have guessed. I'd been meaning to blog on how the foreclosure forestalling meant only a delay in the inevitable - Hot Air beat me to the punch. But that may explain some of the stock market rally we've been seeing over the last 9 weeks.

The coming tax hikes are going to destroy American productivity. Why? Because the left hand doesn't know what the far left hand is doing. Bailing out GM and helping the UAW disproportionately is one bad thing, but raising taxes in a recession is unconscionable.

Amidst the chaos, Obama pushing ahead with unfunded Health Care benefits. Why? Because the President is agenda driven and not reality driven.

Water boarding & The War on Terror - let's all agree that the Democrats are starting to cave and that Bush was right, okay?

Schumer hypocrisy on water boarding - he voted for it being good, before he voted for it being bad.

Feinstein defends water boarding by defending Nancy Pelosi - Bush bad, Pelosi understandably not bad, just prudent. Guess what you can't have your cake and eat it too.

Even Jon Stweart hit Pelosi on water boarding. Why? Well at least, unlike the Democrats he's consistent in his position, wrong though it may be.

The President changes course on releasing Abu Ghraib photos. Why? Bush was right. Come on, say it.

Ethics and hypocrisy - Democrats being Democrats. Obfuscate to skate.

"Most ethical Congress" kills ethics investigation Is anyone surprised by this? Besides Jon Stewart. Wake up Sleeping Beauty, your party is full of poison apples.

Schumer hypocrisy on water boarding - yep, so bad it shows up in two categories.

AIG Bonuses were known about months before the faux outrage. Yep. Hypocrisy.

Report on Right Wing Extremist pulled. And underlings blamed. Go figure.

Hot Air really had a banner 24 hour period in its reporting. Way to go!

How To Defeat Alinsky Rules - Part I

What are Alinsky's Rules for Radicals? Why are they important? How can they be countered?

Liberals, radicals and progressives use these rules against conservatives and mainstream America on a daily basis, without people being aware of how they are being manipulated by it. The left has a co-ordinated approach to political activism. By simply conforming to these rules, intentionally for many, subconsciously by others, liberals and socialists are working from a game plan that is effective simply because of its relentlessness. A ceaseless unresting effort that works by wearing down resistance and winning the little battles of attrition.

Sinkers and Floaters

Pardon the foray into to guttural Jon Stewart-ism, but there's an interesting analogy worth pointing out. There was a Japanese game show a few years back that got picked up by Spike TV and 'translated' with a humorous slant. The show was called Most Extreme Challenge. One of the physical challenges was called Sinkers and Floaters and it clearly had a double-entendre.

The challenge was to successfully run/walk all the way across a pond via a bunch of stones, some of which floated when you stepped on them and some that would sink.

There's a parallel with the Obama administration in that it seems like a lot of people in the administration are sinking under the weight of their responsibilities. Not to mention the rating of the job they are doing as far as the secondary interpretation of sinkers and floaters goes. With respect to the latter, I'm not sure there are any floaters at this point aside from Obama's approval rating still being above the water mark.

In terms of sinking and floating, here's a partial breakdown so far.
