In Copenhagen, shots fired were at Western democracy

At a freedom of speech gathering in Copenhagen, Denmark, early today this happened:

A debate over free speech in an age of terrorism took a dark turn in Copenhagen. A volley of gunfire ripped through a cafe where an artist from the 2007 controversy over drawings of Mohammed spoke. Early reports say Lars Vilks was not injured, but at least two others were...

The shots that were fired were not aimed at individuals. Nominally they were, but the bigger picture is a radical Muslim assault on free speech. All of these recent attacks are not attacks on Westerners, but an attack on our values. This was an attack on free speech. Liberty requires free speech. Free speech can be insulting. But free speech is such a fundamental western value that to attack it is to attack at the heart of Western civilization.

To not defend it forcefully and with everything at our disposable, is to show we do not believe in our civilization and that we do not believe in ourselves.

Global Warming Talks Collapse

As predicted (by quite a few) the Copenhagen Climate Summit, otherwise known as COP15, has been suspend as developing countries have walked out.

Apparently it was African nations who took issue with the conference agenda, which apparently had plans that would put developing nations at a serious developmental disadvantage.

Don't count on it derailing Cap and Trade legislation in the U.S. Expect to hear something along the lines of "they are expressing legitimate economic concerns, however we don't want the fact that a deal couldn't be achieved to stop us from doing what we can to prevent a global ecological disaster. "

Just remember two things - man made global warming (AGW) is either a host or at least suspect and Cap and Trade is a wealth transfer vehicle, not an anti-global warming solution.

COP15: I hate to agree with Pravda, but...

COP15 is the acronym being used for the Copehagen Climate Summit, or as I call it, The Grifters. Apparently the Russian news agency Pravda sees it my way. Great.

Pravda makes some simple but effective points about global warming alarmism. The point to be taken from the article is that Russia clearly is not on board with Cap and Trade and other silliness associated with unproven and dubious science.

Russia of course can't be too hard on the world's green parties - they still understand the Lenin idea of useful idiots, and the idea that the enemy of my enemy is my friend. So Pravda is willing to slap the "Carbon Theorists" at home while leaving them room for praise for the audience abroad.

The fact that Pravda is even entertaining the anti-climate-change argument though, is very telling. They place practicality above hype. Democrats in America could take a lesson.

Where's the 9/12 at Copenhagen?

There's a climate summit coming up in Copenhagen, which President Obama plans to attend.  Talks about a lot of hot air (excuse the pun) and a complete waste of time.  Beyond the Climategate scandal, there are many, many under-reported problems with the whole global warming scandal - this among them.  The whole idea is a masive

SCAM.

Hoepfully there's going to be some protests of note around the conference to point out the pretentiousness and self-serving obfuscation and deceit that has gone on in this whole eco-nightmare scenario.  I don't live in Copenhagen, and I don't hold out much hope for a protest, but if there is, I will try to find pictures and videos to post.

Meanwhile, it's ironic that Al Gore has abandoned ship on the conference.  Maybe he got cold feet because of global cooling....
