C'est What?

In Paris, a mere three weeks after a terror attack in that city, president Obama says mass shootings just don't happen outside of the United States.  That level of out-of-touchness should immediately call into question every other statement this president has made. Ever.

That's not to say he's been wrong on everything, I'll let you come to that conclusion on your own.  But the mainstream media should simply be agog with incredulity at his lack of nuance, his lack of awareness and his simple inaccuracy on this and be saying to themselves "Hey, wait a minute..."

Alas, not going to happen.

Who are The Eagles of Death Metal?

Some of the terror attack in France was at an Eagles of Death Metal concert. I'd heard the name before but could not place any of their songs.  So I went to look at their videos to see.  They're not actually death metal, they sound a bit more like a little bit of a harder edged rockabilly.

In any case my prayers are not only with all those in France and their families but the band and their crew and their families as well. It was just reported all of the band members are confirmed safe. Hopefully the same can be said for as many in that concert hall as possible.

Here's a video of their song I Want You Hard from 2008. It's not much of a way to show support, but I'm not sure what else I can do at this moment.

UPDATE - 7:15 p.m. EST. Fox just reported 100 people dead in that concert hall. Truly tragic.

Terror Attack in Paris

Multiple terror attacks have happened in Paris, in the last hour or so, with up to 30 reported dead so far.

S'Obama skips Paris and...

Really, who cares?  President Obama did not go march in Paris in support of free speech in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo terrorist attacks.  He should have, but did anyone really expect him to go?  He spent a significant portion of his presidency cozying up to the Muslim world as ineffectually best as he could.  Why change course now, just because free speech a cornerstone notion in America, is anathema to vast swaths of that religion? Exactly.  It's cowardice or else it's disinterest. Either trait is unbecoming the in the 'leader of the free world'.

But at this point, it's expected.  So who cares?  That is, besides ISIS and their moral victory.  And the offended French?  And freedom loving people all over the world?  And the Russians and communist Chinese who see opportunity written all over this?

Obama: Je ne suis pas Charlie Hebdo.  Vraiment.

$613 Million Oops!

From the Globe and Mail, a story about a huge art theft that's actually small potatoes compared to some.

A thief stole five paintings possibly worth hundreds of millions of euros, including major works by Picasso and Matisse, in a brazen overnight heist at a Paris modern art museum, police and prosecutors said Thursday...

The intruder entered by cutting a padlock on a gate and breaking a museum window, the Paris prosecutor's office said.

The prosecutor's office initially estimated the five paintings' total worth at as much as $613 million (U.S.) 

 That's pretty brazen.  But it's not as brazen as this;



Oops. That's CRAVEN...

Plus it looks like the art thief actually had a plan.
