I have a question for environmentalists about Al Gore

Note: I don't want to seem like I'm piling on here, given his recent separation. That may in part explain away my question. But not entirely. Marital problems don't spring up overnight and Al Gore during the course of those personal issues (however long that may have been) has been in the public eye and working on other things. But not lately. Which leads me to my question.

Where the heck is he??? If this were Bush's oil spill he would be angry to the point of apoplexy. He would be on TV daily excoriating the President for inaction and lack of concern or perhaps overly cozy relationship with "big oil". Not so.

Here's what Al Gore said about Katrina and Bush's response;
Former Vice President Al Gore urged Americans on Friday to hold the Bush administration accountable for failing to adequately prepare for and respond to Hurricane Katrina.

"When the corpses of American citizens are floating in toxic flood waters five days after a hurricane struck, it is time not only to respond directly to the victims of the catastrophe, but to hold ... the leaders of our nation accountable," Gore told environmentalists at the Sierra Club's national convention.
Instead we get a lame, ethereal paragraph or two about how this is not good for mother earth.

But President Obama is a Democrat. And President Obama cares. Right? So this can't be seen as an epic environmental failure. This man caused disaster is okay to keep relatively quiet on, but a natural disaster like Katrina elicits vitriol. Makes sense. That is, it makes sense if you understand that Al Gore is a hypocrite and environmentalism is a tool for him, not a belief. An Inconvenient Truth is nothing more than an infomercial for subsequent Al Gore endeavors designed to cash in on the movement.
