Is Unemployment REALLY 9.7%?

I discovered this blog today - Mish's Global Economic Trend Analysis. I've been reading it and recommend it. Mike Shedlock articulates very well a lot of the concerns I've had about today's unemployment numbers and had just started trying to wrap my head around. A drop in unemplyment from 10% to 9.7% just doesn't add up, and the convoluted tables and explanations does little to support the open government Americans were promised.

Nevertheless, I recommended reading Mike's assessment of the job numbers, it explains things quite well. The numbers are clearly open to manipulation and therefore subject to political whim as much as anything else. Obviously, this would be a year to do that it.
