Joe Biden - prophet (of DOOM!)

Joe Biden during the election campaign went off script a few times. The incoherent ramblings were a source of amusement for those of us on the right. But while the Vice President was speaking in tongues, a coherent message seeped through. Perhaps he was channeling some higher power when he talked about there being an international crisis to test Barack Obama.

Boy was he right! Of course there's the economic crisis. Then there was the Chinese testing his resolve. Then there was the talking with Iran, there's Chavez stealing an election (oh yes he did). Russia has also tried to flex its muscles. They may all have been precursors to North Korea.

The North Koreans have fired a ballistic rocket, ostensibly for a communication satellite. They did it in clear violation of UN Resolution 1718, and a slap in the face of The One. Joe, it's not going to be apparent. You know why? You're going to muck this up the same way you did in response to the economic crisis. President Obama had said the test firing would be provocative and not go unpunished (tremble yee North Koreans at the might of The One).

The launch was a bold act of defiance against Obama, Japanese leader Taro Aso and other leaders who pressed North Korea in the days leading up to liftoff to cancel a move they said would threaten peace and stability in Northeast Asia. Biden, in his prophetic moment asked for us all to support Obama. After all, it isn't every day The One is defied. And perhaps soon he will consolidate his power and make it so no one, no country is able to do so. But for now, Obama needs your support. The reason, as prophesied by the prophet Biden, is that his response will seem unconventional and not right;

"Mark my words," the Democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday. "It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."

"I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate," Biden said to Emerald City supporters, mentioning the Middle East and Russia as possibilities. "And he's gonna need help. And the kind of help he's gonna need is, he's gonna need you - not financially to help him - we're gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it's not gonna be apparent initially, it's not gonna be apparent that we're right."

No, Joe it's not going to be apparent because the response is going to be flat out wrong. The not apparent your going to be right portion of this will play out as follows; a soft condemnation followed by sanctions. Wooooo! Scary!!!

And it's wrongerer than you know, because the tacit backing of China means there are deeper implications than a rogue tinpot dictator in a country trying desperately to look like a big boy on the block. Yes, a nuclear North Korea is a danger. But in isolation, the North Korean problem is completely manageable. But at the other end of that leash is China, and how they interpret a mamby-pamby response matters a whole lot. They will respond to weakness with boldness and it bodes poorly for international tension.

Of course there's always the possibility that tension won't ratchet up for a few years because Obama doesn't care about North Korea much. They can't vote for him there because ACORN doesn't have that kind of reach yet.
