Mis-statement of the Century

Steny Hoyer has the Audacity of Dope.

According to Politico;
“We’ve incurred this debt. We have to pay our bills,” House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer told POLITICO Wednesday. And the Maryland Democrat confirmed that the anticipated increase could be as high as $1.8 trillion — nearly twice what had been assumed in last spring’s budget resolution for the 2010 fiscal year.
Wow. I'm speechless, somebody help me here. How is raising the debt ceiling the same as paying your bills?

  1. How stupid have I been? I've actually been sending money to my credi card companies when I could have just asked them to raise my limit. (smacking self in forehead)

  2. It's even easier than that. You don't even need to ask, just go ahead and raise it yourself.

    We've all been fools. There is no national debt crisis. The government can go on raising the ceiling forver, since apparently that pays the bills.

    But it begs the question, why didn't they just do that instead of just actually lending money to AIG and GM. Oh well, it must have been a little oversight.
