Midterms Matter: Can West Virginian's overlook Manchin's political machinations?

I'll admit this one one is a bit of a longshot, but even though Joe Manchin voted to approve Brett Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court, that has to be a calculated political move given that West Virginia is a red state, he's calculating that voters will re-approve him for another term in the senate.  But here's the deal - if he's going to vote with the Republicans then why isn't he one of them?  If he's a conservative why is he in a party that has no room for his sort of voice?  And why would West Virginians condone that when a more straightforward option is simply to elect a Republican candidate who more aligns to voter values?

Joe Manchin votes with Republicans 61% of the time.  That's not all that dependable. In fact if you look at his voting record, the Kavanaugh vote aside, it is in key votes where he is reliably liberal.  He's a stealth Democrat, a stealth liberal, being just conservative enough to sneak by voters' awareness.  While seemingly above partisanship, he is actually getting away with betraying West Virginia's voters while skating along on his personal likability.

Short of Joe Manchin switching parties and actually standing up for conservative values when it really matters - as in immigration, tax reform for example - the choice is obvious.  His underdog opponent Patrick Morrissey deserves your consideration.
Patrick Morrisey is West Virginia’s first Republican Attorney General since 1933. Elected in 2012 and reelected in 2016, Morrisey is a conservative champion for Mountain State families and taxpayers. His conservative principles and record of standing up to President Obama is one reason why his colleagues named him national chair of the Republican Attorneys General Association.
Please support his efforts; volunteer, donate or at least check out his positions on his website.  And by all means - vote.

Midterms Matter: For Iowa District 3, please support David Young for Congress

In early September there was a poll that had Republican David Young up by 16 points on his Democratic challenger in the race for Iowa's 3rd congressional district.  Then in late September a NYT poll had his opponent up by 1 point.  I know what you are thinking: "The New York Times ? Meh."  But the more recent New York Times poll was of likely voters whereas the earlier poll was of all registered voters (which is far less predictive) and it was of a much smaller sample size.

So this is starting to look like it's going to be a close race.  This is race that really matters, especially since David Young understands and is working hard for Iowans.
As a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, David works hard for the people of Iowa’s Third Congressional District. David’s conservative principles are built upon the same foundation on which he was raised: hard work, honesty, family, and faith. It’s those principles that drive David every day.
Add in his pragmatism and you have a candidate worth getting behind.  Please support his efforts; volunteer, donate or at least check out his positions on his website.  And by all means - vote.

Thank you.

Midterms Matter: For Kansas 2nd District, please support Steve Watkins for Congress

Yet another tight race for Congress, in Kansas Steve Watkins is another remarkable candidate who needs your support.
Steve Watkins’s remarkable life and career have been characterized by integrity, courage, leadership and selfless service. He has led soldiers in war, fought wasteful government spending, and managed engineering projects in some of the world’s most harsh environments.
His views are pro-Kansas, pro-jobs, pro-growth, anti-government-waste, in defense of liberty, and very much pro delivering real results.

His opponent is not as upstanding. He's used trickery and deliberate opportunistic misdirection to further his political career.  He exhibits all the hallmarks of a careerist politician who is interested in getting to Washington to get his share of wealth from the swamp.

That's not what anyone in Kansas or America deserves in the Capitol.  But he has been able to take a small lead in the polling and every vote is going to matter. This is no time to be complacent.  Please support his efforts; volunteer, donate or at least check out his positions on his website.  And by all means - vote.

Thank you.

Midterms Matter: For Kansas 3rd District, please support Kevin Yoder for Congress

Kevin Yoder has represented Kansas well, by fighting for fiscally responsible government and more.  In a tight race, his proven track record should matter to voters:
On January 5, 2011, Kevin was sworn in to serve his first term as part of the 112th Congress. During his tenure in Congress, he has served on the House Appropriations Committee, which is responsible for allocating federal spending. Since taking office, he has consistently focused on balancing the federal budget, reducing the national debt and supporting policies that stimulate private sector job growth. He now serves as Chairman of the influential Homeland Security Subcommittee, responsible for making sure our taxpayer dollars go towards keeping America safe. He previously served as the Chairman of the Legislative Branch Subcommittee, responsible for keeping congressional budgets tighter and smaller than what they were under Speaker Nancy Pelosi before Republicans won the House majority in 2010.

In addition to authoring the bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security, Kevin has authored the legislation that bans congressional pay increases. He's also authored the Email Privacy Act, legislation that requires the government to get a warrant before searching your emails or text messages, which has twice passed the House of Representatives unanimously. He's also the lead sponsor of the Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act and the Promoting Affordable Childcare for Everyone Act, two bills with broad bipartisan support.
He may be a vanilla guy, but he's the type of politician who works hard to  serve his constituents rather than becoming part of the swamp that is Washington D.C. politics.

His opponent meanwhile is surprisingly radical to be considered a real contender in this race. Nevertheless she seems to have a small lead in the polls.  This despite some frightening policy positions:

Kevin Yoder needs you to vote.   Please support his efforts; volunteer, donate or at least check out his positions on his website.  And by all means - vote.

Thank you.

Midterms Matter: For California 45th District, please support Mimi Walters for Congress

Mimi Walters has been elected to serve her district twice now; in 2014 and again in 2016.  But in 2018 it is more critical than ever that she win the race that is looking like a toss up. Mimi cares about her constituents in more ways than just tax relief, national security and sensible immigration policy.

Here are a few examples.

Contrast that with her opponent:

Midterms Matter: For Pennsylvania 7th District, please support Marty Nothstein for Congress

Marty Nothstein is known for his grit and determination and he's going to need it to win a seat in Congress. The Olympic gold medalist is currently trailing his opponent by a percentage outside the margin of error, but it is entirely NOT insurmountable.

With a story like this,  victory is within his reach:
A principled conservative who grew up with a deep sense of fiscal responsibility, Marty put those principles to work as county commissioner. In just two years, he helped restore and expand the county’s retirement home for the elderly and cut taxes on homeowners.

In addition to his public service and work as a small businessman, Marty owns and works a family farm, carrying on the agricultural legacy of the 7th District.

Now, Marty is running for Congress to put the same grit and determination to work for the people of the 7th Congressional District.

“America is the land of limitless opportunity. However, too often, Washington fails us because career politicians are only looking out for themselves and their friends. Instead of tax reform and health care reform, we get gridlock and cronyism,” says Marty.

“That has to stop.”
Let's hope he can pull out the victory for Pennsylvania despite the courts deciding to redraw districts to more liberal likings. Marty needs your help in this race that is bound to be tight.  He needs you to vote.   Please support his efforts; volunteer, donate or at least check out his positions on his website.  And by all means - vote.

Thank you.

Midterms Matter: For Texas District 32, please support Pete Sessions for Congress

Another tight race for Congress is in the Texas 32nd District.  Pete Sessions a common sense, fiscal conservative has a track record in both the public and private sector for which Texans should be proud.  From issue of fiscal responsibility to border security to healthcare to energy his common sense thinking are exactly what is needed for a continued path to American greatness.

Nevertheless his race, so far, is a tight one.  This is no time to be complacent.  Please support his efforts; volunteer, donate or at least check out his positions on his website.  And by all means - vote.

Thank you.

Midterms Matter: For California District 49th, please support Diane Harkey for Congress

She's been viciously and unfairly smeared already and she's an underdog, longshot challenger in a deep blue state.  The only poll of significance currently has her in a 10 point deficit race. But she is a fighter. She is a fighter for taxpayers and in California, that's pretty important.  Her successful, real-world business experience also matters. That's especially true when the positions of her opponent amount to federal-budget-busting over-promising.

With the American economy in resurgence, it's time for California to capitalize on that.  Diane Harkey is the ticket to do just that.  If you check out her website, you'll see her positions on both national and local issues. Those positions are firmly rooted in common sense and are very pro-California.

As a true but viable underdog, she really needs your support. So please support her efforts; volunteer, donate or at least check out her positions on her website.  And by all means - vote.

Thank you.

Midterms Matter: For Virginia District 7, please support David Brat for Congress

David Brat is the one person in Congress who is absolutely necessary:
As the only Ph.D. economist in Congress, Dave Brat is uniquely qualified to tackle the current budget crisis we face in America. Serving on the House Budget Committee, and as a member of the House Freedom Caucus, Dave has been leading the charge in Congress for a more fiscally responsible budget process.
He is the only  Ph.D. economist in Congress! That alone means he should be involved in the fiscal budgeting process, where his insights are desperately needed.  But he also has on his resume, ethics and proven results.  He is exactly the type of person we need in Congress.

Yet his race is tighter than it should be. He needs voter engagement from you because what he is working for are things that really matter.  Please support his efforts; volunteer, donate or at least check out his positions on his website.  And by all means - vote.

Thank you.

Midterms Matter: For Iowa District 1, please support Rod Blum for Congress

Congressman Rod Blum is in a tight race to represent the first district in Iowa. He believes in the American Dream and wants to do his part to restore it for the next generation of the country.  He has experience in running a business successfully and can help Washington apply that common sense to running the government.  His views on agriculture, social security, the economy and cleaning up Congress are in line with mainstream America.  There's no reason his race should be so close.

He needs voters to recognize his values and his own efforts in Congress and step up to support him in supporting America.

So please support his efforts; volunteer, donate or at least check out his positions on his website.  And by all means - vote.

Thank you.
